unfortunetly yesterday (2-2-12) saw the passing away of Mr John Hawkshaw BEM John was more than just a friend of ours He was one of the commitee of the RLDSA and helped shape the association to where it got to his knowledge was second to none and will now be lost all i can say is that where ever his spirit has gone we will know that when the time comes for us all to go there will be no issues with access for all

As Richard has put so eloquently this is a very sad loss to us as fans and to us as people. John worked very hard throughout his life both through trade unions he was involved with, Remploy and his role as a Ground Safety Officer at Hunslet Hawks where we met him.

John inspired us and helped us form the RLDSA and constantly advised and supported us in the years since, his determination to see Rugby League become more accessible was infectious and he will be very badly missed as will his great sense of humour.

Our thoughts are with his family and his lovely wife who looked after him so well these last years.
