Referees have always tried to lay down early markers. If the players cant learn he will continue blowing the whistle.

I love these "I don't understand the rules, therefore the referee is wrong" threads … mind they're never going to go away while Mike Stephenson continues building his commentary on nothing more than "I don't understand the rules, therefore the referee has got it wrong" reactions to every decision.

Since when did the rule say that the referee should take the defence back 12 or 13 metre's

It's an offence not to retreat 10m, if the ref (as Ganson, and a lot do) stand 12m back to observe better then it's not an offence to stand in front of the ref.

FWIW Myler was offside and the pen rightly given .
