As I understand it, and granted, only reading this from Red Passion, the WST want to buy the whole lot, ground and club. The reason is, is that their business plan does not work without them owning the ground and being able to charge the Crusaders an annual rent of around £200-£250k because they are planning to buy the club and service its huge debts to stop them being kicked out of the English Leagues (as they would have no choice but to join the Welsh FA apparently if they get kicked out).
The University want the ground and possibly have the money, but they want income from both Wrexham FC and Crusaders to make that work for them, because they will be buying the ground for around £1.5m and of course £700k of that goes to the RFL. I understand that Wrexham supporters trust only have around £500k, to date, to buy the whole lot. WST can't afford to take on the debts of the club and pay to play at the ground as well, hence the reason Crusaders are important.
This then leaves the question of Crusaders. If the Uni buys the ground, the football club manages to survive and pay rent (which is a big if it would appear), what happens to Moss and Roberts ownership of Crusaders? The rumour is Moss and Roberts only ever wanted Crusaders to prop up the ground and the football club (ironically, like everyone else does) and when they no longer own the ground or the football club, why in gods name are they going to throw loads of money at an RL because one thing is for sure, they can't even break even on average crowds below 2500 and lets remember, lots of them are not actual paying to get in!'"
If Wakey do get the boot (and I'm not 100% sure they will) then there will be an 'interesting' atmosphere at the Wakefield v Crusaders game this Sunday.

Yes, and I think they might be getting some t-shirts done!

If Wakefield end up on Sky before the season end, which I doubt, I can imagine these will be popular signs in the crowd!

| A nice factual post IA but was there really the need for the digs at the end? Sub 2500? and its as easy to get free tickets to watch warrington as it is Crusaders. I believe the term you meant was 'discounted'

Wrexham FC would not get kicked out by the English FA but drop down and restart at probably Unibond North Level as Merthyr Town FC did when Merthyr Tydfil went bust.

This came from posters on Red Passion and it was them that thought they would actual have to join the Welsh FA rather than the English FA if they went bust. But either way, you can see why they want to take over and service the debts the club has, otherwise you might as just well let it go bust and start again in the lower leagues, Welsh, English or otherwise.

| In the 'Independent' today Dave Hadfield reckoned that Wakey are a shoe-in for the boot, with the club calling a news conference after the announcement.

Ok, I was being a little disingenuous I think their current average crowd is just above 2500, so maybe I should have said sub 3000 average instead. I understand that like Quins, free (not discounted) tickets are reasonably easy to come by, so my point was of those 3000, they are not all paying full price and therefore benefit from the income of the full 3000 people attending games.

| Crusaders' crowd is still over 3000 this year last time I heard and free tickets for any club are reasonably easy to come by if you know the right people but not bucketloads. Crusaders offer discounts which seems to offend ST holders but no more freebies than most clubs on a weekly basis

| Who does deserve their place in Super league? A club that went into administration this year.
Marvellous.
