There are rules against it. The last but one edition of a monthly RL mag contained a list of directives sent out from Red Hall on such issues before the start of the season. That's why the likes of Lima have been banned and there are a reducing number of chicken wing and pressure point type tackling efforts.

Wigan fans seem to think it's a Wigan thing or because he's "the best player in the league" (he isn't) it's because he's a dirty little so & so who needs to cut it out before he rubs someone the wrong way on the pitch.'"
I am not sure that we have a problem but if the players & coaches think it is then what we should do is penalise the ofenders there is already rules about deliberatly trying to injure others. A one on one shoulder charge/ big hit has it place but done on a man who is held up & defenceless should be penalised harshly, The Union option of making all tacklers use thier arms would be an option. There again I have been involved with coaching youngsters of both codes & spend hours showing how to tackle from the front, side & back each involving getting the shoulder in place & wraping up the legs with a strong grip. none of which techniques you will see very often in the pro game.
if there is a reason to outlaw the chicken wing(a tackle intended to injure a player)there is obviously a problem with players attempting to put opponents out of the game, whether it is coached or not.
the daft thing is if coaches do introduce wrestling techniques etc in the tackle that can injure a player, surely they must know that eventually other sides will follow suit and retaliate accordingly ,therefore endangering their own players
23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg
