so given a choice of fitzgibbon, omeley or mason you would go for the latter - oh dear
being a superstar a few years ago means nothing in this sport

| Rugby union.
Continuing to help rugby league put its old buggers out to pasture.
Winner of the Andy Farrell Memorial trophy this year - early nomination Willy Mason (who last played well circa 2002).

| Rovers fans are making Willie Mason out to be the bad guy here and I can't understand why. It was Rovers that signed him without having an clear overseas quota plan, while keeping their fans in the dark about it they then asked him to get a Tongan passport when that fell apart, which while he has not got one yet he attempted to do in good faith while Rovers lobbied the RFL in bad faith to get a dispensation to get Tongan's off the overseas quota that other clubs didn't get.
Then without his passport they told him to fly over and play, which he did, while they applied for another dispensation to deregister their best player, again in secrecy until just before his first game.
Pretty shabby treatment of their "biggest signing ever", all the time I have not heard a bad word out of his mouth about this and by all accounts until recently he has been fulfilling all of his community obligations in good grace for the club.
Then to top it all off the club stop paying him for what seems to be a very dubious reason. I certainly don't blame him for talking to another club, on his day off, about a plan B, if my employer turned out as shifty as his I would make sure I had an alternative lined up.
I think Rovers and their fans owe Willie a big apology.

That never happened.
Tongans aren't on the quota, so why would they lobby the RFL?
They ARE on the non-fed list, and they've never tried to get him off this (they can't). You've kinda made this bit up or crossed your wires a bit, but it it isn't true.
