| They should just get some bottle and sack Agar. All this nonsense about British coaches being good for the game should be forgotten. The Australians do rugby league better than we do and we should try to copy their methods and learn from them. I think the RFL should set up a scheme where any young British coaches/retiring players who have the potential to be a head coach are sent to an NRL club for experience, paid for by the RFL.
Given their superb facilities, strong financial setup and strong youth production line, Hull should be perennial challengers at the top. After briefly threatening to become a top club with a couple of Cup Final appearances and a Grand Final, they have fallen well below their potential in recent seasons.
Give Maguire or Brown that squad and they would be in the top 2/3.

| Quote: Wellsy13 "I wouldn't call Long a questionable recruitment decision to be honest. Like those around him, there is only so much you can do in a poor set-up. Andrew Johns in his prime would probably fail at Hull at the moment. There is just that much wrong to do with on the pitch.
A great coach with a team full of average players will on most occasions beat a crap coach with a team full of superstars IMO. Under a poor coach, the superstars won't be superstars for long!'"
Which means they were never "superstars" in the beginning!!!

You mean the Leeds model, copied by St Helens and then in turn, copied by Wigan 25 years later when they realised Aussie journeymen nearly get you relegated?

Wigan v Manly - 1987 WCC Final.
16 British players in the team of 17.
7 of which came through the Wigan Academy system
An additional 2 were Wiganers who came back to play for their hometown club.
