Quote: Tre Cool "Incidences of greed and disloyalty are a fact of life. It didnt kill uni*n when we poached loads of their players and it won't kill us now we're losing some. This game is way bigger than a few morons that want money over everything our truly great game offers; colour, passion and an honest, fast paced, exciting game. Uni*n sucks beyond belief, and union fans suck beyond belief. Shut the door behind you Kyle,'"

So for someone like myself that loves both codes, do i only half suck beyond belief? Moron.

Quote: Leaguefan "Agreed but selecting Brough does not fill me with much confidence.'"

In my opinion, Danny Brough is petulant and obnoxious

But... he is also the most rounded English born half back we have with a very good kicking game that has been singularly the most obvious weakness in the English national team in recent years. He is also a dangerous runner and sound enough in defence

In two years time, I am sure that Tomkins will have developed into a world class full back – we have some very good young hookers and it seems like we are still developing good big forwards. At last, we also have some promising athletic outside backs to work on in the likes of Briscoe, Jones-Bishop, Welham, Arundel, Charnley, Marsh, Lawrence and Watkins etc. The missing link is that half back that can boss the game

I completely disagree with swapping international allegiance and once you have played international football for one nation then that should be it for you. However, it seems that the international world is happy for players to swap allegiance and if Brough helps us lift that World Cup the I am big enough to at least admit my hypocrisy

Quote: PHIPPS "I suppose the fact there are 4 players less on the field at any given time in an RL match than there are in an RU match would lead to there being more 'length of the field' efforts in the 13 man code purely for the fact there is more space available on the pitch to run on.

Apart from Offiahs famous effort for GB against Australia at Wembley and Billy Slaters excellent one in Melbourne in 2008 against England I'm struggling to think of many others at international level though I'm sure there have been plenty....and that people will remind me of them

The clue was in the post

The game does need to build more stars but not sure a strong International side gurantees that? I mean when England Rugby Union won the world cup we were told Union was going to explode in england and become a major sport catching up with football. This didnt really happen though and while wilkinson became a star and to a lesser extent robinson was a genuine star how many others in that winning side became mainstream stars.

League can build stars. There are only a few players which would fit the profile but it can be done with right machine behind them. I love Sky's coverage of the sport and cant really complain but I do think just a little thing like getting more southern voices on the microphone would make a difference to how the game is portrayed. My gf doesnt like Rugby League but last week she said to me "Why is the game so northern" after northern accent after nothern accent. We could do with some more balance.

Not sure how much star power League players in Australia have in comparison but I do speak to Aussie Union fans over here who dont watch League but I can mention NRL players and they know who I am talking about.

Does Union even have any stars over there now. From what I have been told in NSW Union is miles behind League in terms of popularity.
