ONE extra match for the best team in SL. Big deal! They get the extra revenue and they just rotate their players a bit more during the course of the season.

No you don't , the team that plays the WCC gets one game less , or whoever they play as the ' extra ' game gets one game more

Starbug, indeed it IS basic maths. Stop for a second and entertain the slight possibility that you could be wrong this time. Because with respect, you ARE.

A cursory recheck of the numbers reveals that NOBODY plays an extra match. So I was briefly wrong in assuming you were correct that one team played an extra match. Now I'm back again in the right.

1. The uneven teams in SL play each other on a round robin basis. On any playing weekend, one team (or an odd number of teams) will have a rest weekend. Thus the fixtures are completed with (including MM) ALL teams playing 2 matches against each other.

2. The uneven number of SL teams at MM are boosted by the OTHER WCC team to make an EVEN number of teams. These teams then play each other.

I can't make it any simpler for you Starbug.

HOWEVER .. it is an entertaining thread for 2 reasons.

I can't recall how MM works cos i don't follow SL any more. BUt I'M STILL RIGHT

1. If MM matches are not friendlies but count towards the usual 2 SL fixtures each, then the SL champs play one extra game (the WCC one)

2. If the MM matches are friendlies and do not count towards the SL table, then NOBODY plays an extra game.

Ok , 15 teams , everybody plays home and away , so 28 games worth 56 points

14 teams play at MM for points , so 7 teams get another 2 points each

1 team plays at MM for zero points as they are playing the NRL champions

So club X then has to play another game to be able to attain the same number of points as the other 14 teams

Team X cannot play another game because whoever they play then has played 30 games as they already play home and away 28 , and have also already played at MM

Is that clear enough ?
