what a cr4p lazy article that was, talk about a journo not being ar5ed to do any research and actually write about a subject. Must have taken him all of 4 minutes to put that together.
Here is how I see things in regards to where the bids are at:
Stadium: Brisbane2, Ipswich (if using Suncorp), Reds, Bears, CQ, PNG
Fanbase: PNG, Brisbane2, Bears, Ipswich, Reds, CQ
Corporate Support: Brisbane2, Bears, Reds, CQ, Ipswich, PNG
Value to TV station: Reds, Brisbane2, Ipswich, CQ, Bears, PNG
Value to NRL: Reds, Brisbane2, Ipswich, Bears, CQ, PNG
Brisbane 2 and Reds to get in. Why? Reds offer the only "real" expansion of the game and offer opportunities for TV no one else does in a capital city of near 2million. Brisbane2; best RL stadium in country, strong corporate base, offers great value to TV deal.
Missing out; Bears, great support and RL heartland but the NRL or TV doesn't need another NSW team. Ipswich, seems disorganised and still alot of unanswered questions. CQ, strong corporate support but little fanbase and no stadium. PNG, PNGRL is in chaos, little value to TV, huge fanbase but little income, no stadium.
Rumours abound that Wellington is biding its time to throw its hat in the ring if expansion is announced and that a 3rd Brisbane bid may be coming from two QRL teams joining forces.
