There's obviously a bit of a confusion since Italia RFL is not recognised by RLEF. Anyway we are really glad to deliver a (small) winterseason for italian RL.

Catania Rugby and CUS Catania played their first Coppa Italia Rugby League match on 8th March. Played last night (Italian time) the victory came to CUS, 14 to 8. Congratulations guys but the game is still left open to earn a spot in the final in Rome.
* Both matches moved early March to 8th and 10th March - due to Union/XV championship disruptions.

The first match of the Lazio Group in the Coppa Italia Rugby League was played. Corsari vs Rugby Roma 2000, ended with victory going to Portaportese rugby roma 2000 at the 'campo delle Tre Fontane'.
*This match was postponed on March 2nd to this week due to torential rain.

Nicola Toro (left), Federico Dell'Aria (middle)

Toro (CUS Catania) and Dell'Aria actually both played for Spartans Catania XIII in the 2010 Campionato. Difference is Toro gets to play rugby league in winter and summer, which has occurred with other players in the Coppa. Coppa Italia players play with amateur rugby clubs, while others from the CAMPIONATO such as Federico Dell'Aria - who is assisting as a referee, are semi pro in ru. There may be a stage where they can choose to play just rugby league as it develops longer/bigger.
