| Its obvious England need a different test at this stage than Wales and France offer mid season.
Yorks V lancs doesnt work. There no point flogging this horse.
I think a 1 or two game series against an Other Nationalities side would be more than useful until the next world cup.
Then i would have 1 england v ON game and rotate England v France & England V wales on an annual basis as a second game.
The problem with other nationalities is the desire to play for the shirt.
Perhaps the way to work an other nationalities team is to make one of the SL"foreign players" captain for the whole year and have some sort of fundraising element to the concept throughout the year, with other events as well as the games against England.
Also the ON captain picks the squad and the coaching team for the games. Its his team and you get picked by him so don't let him down.
Potential candidates throw their hat into the ring each year & The captain is voted for each year by the eligible players in SL at the same time they cast their man of steel votes and the announcement is made at the end of season dinner.
I`d keep the Other Nationalities tag but they certainly need a brand nickname & keep the green shirts.

| Quote: JonM "It just isn't though.
People in "Lancashire" see Liverpool vs Manchester as a big rivalry; on Merseyside, you'd be easily able to drum up some interest in a scousers vs woolybacks game. I've never heard anyone express a desire to beat Yorkshire at all costs, or any other expression of keenly felt rivalry.'"
Speak for yourself .... I hate Yorkshire.

| Quote: JonM "You can get one-sided rivalries. In soccer, Leeds Utd fans tend to see Man Utd as their main rivals, but are pretty much off the radar for Man Utd fans - with 8 premier league clubs in Lancashire and none in Yorkshire, it's not surprising. Yorkshiremen tend to support other Yorkshire clubs if their own team is not involved, but someone from Liverpool would support pretty much any team in the world playing against Man City or Man Utd and expect to have the same treatment from Manchester fans when they play.'"
I can gurantee Leeds are more 'on the radar' than all of the Lancashire clubs but possibly one, to think that the Leeds/Man U rivalry is one way is very naive.
Also most of the Liverpool fans I know quite like Man City (your enemies enemy is your friend and all that).

| Quote: JonM "It's a match-up with a bit more history in cricket, certainly - but also due to them being the only two county clubs in the north for best part of 100 years. With Cricket, the powerbase historically has been the mill towns which are a lot closer to Yorkshire.

Devon v Cornwall is way more keenly felt than any other county rivalry.'"
None of this is true.
