Apparently he's supposed to be decent enough. How he will actually turn out is anyone's guess, although he does have a better pedigree than Walters, who had previously been shipped out of the Broncos and was coaching a top Queensland Cup side to a mid-table finish before he was approached by Catalans. And like someone has said he can't possibly be any worse, at least he understands the French game and will give game time to some French players if nothing else.
Kear is a poor coach and is exactly what Catalans do not need.

Kears win/loss % at wakey is better than most in recent times for that club which would indicate he is not that bad would you not agree? JK as every human being has his positives/negative points but imo would have done better than Kevvy this year in Catalans, and is amongst the best British coaches in SL. Keep in mind that he has had Brough, Tronc and Newton taken out of his squad this season. Take 3 of the most influencial players out of most squads and you would see a dip in performance.

I also think the lad should be given a chance, if he has had success in the Queensland Cup, speaks french which will help and if he settles and has success his age is on his side.

Really? Isn't he just following the same sort of path as Justin Morgan? I am pretty sure the Hull KR fans would prefer Morgan to Kear.

No, he's poor. He was crap at Paris, Huddersfield and Hull, and he's been average at best at Wakefield. He was also shocking in the England job. He has won the Challenge Cup twice and miraculously managed to save Wakefield in 2006 so people see him as some sort of wonder coach, but in reality he's woefully limited. He's left every club he has been at in a worse state than when he arrived (although this will probably not be possible at Wakefield). He would have been an improvement on Walters, but only because Walters is so pathetically inept.

Barry McKenzie encourages healthy debate but unless you are the 'Dalai Lama' of all things footy like myself I think is better if the person googles the subject they wish to discuss first rather than just firing off unresearched questions on an open forum.
