Quote Barry_McKenzie="Barry_McKenzie"Serious question.
What does this say about the calibre of English Superleague teams when a newly formed side consisting of unwanted Aussies, old age pensioners and rejects from other SL clubs look like they might make the play offs???
Is SL really this bad?'"
yes it is really that bad,
5 years ago we had 4/5 teams of real quality, the Salary cap has meant a lowering of overall quality.Clubs havent done what was needed to bring through enough quality players to mean that by sharing the talent there wasnt a large drop in quality. And where players werent brought through from academies averaged overseas players were brought in as the SC meant clubs over here couldnt compete for the very best overseas players.
The standard of SL now is nowhere near the quality it was a few years ago, the Leeds side that won the LLS and GF last year would have been embarrassed by the Leeds side that did the same in 2004.
This coupled with the changes in the interpretation regarding the PTB and the 'winning' of the collision has meant a workmanlike side can slow the ptb down to such an extent that avoiding making errors becomes enough in itself sometimes.
