As Farrell clearly didn't get anywhere near a charge down (he came from the side and the ball was kicked without hitting him, both indicating this) then his leap through the air was for what exact purpose? When in a game would leaping high through the air with your arms down at a player not result in a high dangerous contact? Clearly a penalty....

Why do you HAVE to use your arms to charge the ball down? Using your body is just as effective.

If the ball hits Farrell but he continues his path and hits Maguire in the same way would this still be classed as a late hit ?

If not could someone explain the difference.
