They played some good footy against the Eels at times last weekend. Ok I know its only the Eels but you can only beat whats in front of you. Gallen was awesome.

Agree, they did play well last week....it's the rest of the seaon that is the problem. They need back to back wins to get their confidence up, but in my humble opinion, they don't have "the tools" or the right coach in place to challenge for a spot in the 8.

Probably not this year.

They do have some youngsters that could kick on and do well in the NRL in the next few years though.

Kade Snowden has been particularly impressive this season I've thought. And Tim Smith is settling back into life in the NRL nicely so far.

They have the Broncos next....at Cronulla. Hopefully Origin 1 will be particularly hard on the Broncos players. Another good performance this weekend like they put in against the Eels and who knows.........

Stuart's record is dreadful sincwe the Premiership he won with the Roosters (which as you say was hugely helped by Gould), and I doubt fans of any NRL side would look forward to him becoming their new coach.

As for Souths, they look a couple of quality players off being genuine title contenders. They now have a pack, but Sandow/Sutton aren't the greatest halfbacks and Warren Ryan (always worth a read) reckoned the Souths outside backs were very poor as a unit defensively.

BTW BM your judgement on players sucks. Before his injury Moltzen gave some of the most cowardly performances I've ever seen from a full back. And looked very average at halfback as well.

Any coaches been linked with the Saints job in the Australia press mate ?
