| "A PLAYER like Storm star Billy Slater would be unlikely to jump ship to play AFL or rugby union. He could earn $700,000 in rugby league from the Storm and sponsors but go into the cap at only $560,000.
To a lesser extent, it would also help keep Israel Folau and Johnathan Thurston because their clubs would have money available from what they saved on discounts for others."
when our salary cap rises in 2012 together with these allowances, our best players will be earning $1.5 million so the loss of stars will end.

| Good ideas. At first glance it appears workable.
Unfortunately, Gallop only saysThe current system is not fool proof and we are open to looking at it. Maybe it's something we could consider doing rather than just raising the cap next time'"
I hope that's not Gallopese for, "we'll continue to sit on our hands and fiddle* while Rome burns".
* Yes, I realise how difficult that would [iactually[/i be.

| Obviously the cap needs to be looked at and changed but i think the Storm should still have to lose at least one star player and a couple of others. They should have to let them go straight away IMO because there still playing games against teams that are under cap and winning so how is it fair? it's not. Yes they dont get any points but thats a punishment, they should still have to be under the cap this year.
It says there about $850k over this year but i think it must be more, the 4 star players will take half of the cap then they've got Hoffman, White, Lima, Blair, Manu who are all current Test players plus Quinn and Finch who are ex-Origin players.
