The whole issue of profitable clubs is by the by. The RFL wouldnt support a loss making team as they have no ambition to carry a plan through. Melbourne are the best team in Oz, and are still predicted to make a loss for at least the next 5 years, but they WILL become profitable. The fact is that the NRL and newscorp are prepared to persevere with something.

Also, it actually makes more sense for clubs to run at an operational loss, it stops a lot of the tax implications. it also helps with sponsorship believe it or not, as does the setting up of youth systems as charities, its all for tax reasons.

I hope the crusdares can manage to stay around long enough to be a competitive force, and im at the stage where im a bit tired of reading how much of a "joke" they are, its happened, lets get on with the season.

I'm sure I read not so long ago that Leeds turnover is getting on towards £10M. Given the salary cap is only £1.65M where is the rest of Leeds money going for them to make an annual loss?!
