Years ago, I was beaten up by a gang of 'Tetley Bittermen' due to being a punk. Car pulls up, guys get out and give you a kicking. It was a common occurrence in Bradford in those days. The [ireason[/i for being attacked was of no comfort to you. You got attacked for being different. Gays do not have a monopoly on getting singled out.

On the subject of the Union player though, if he gives comfort to a troubled person somewhere then good for him. There is the Quentin Crisp film on this Xmas, now he was someone with bollox, a real brave man.

I don't understand what you are trying to say. Leeds Pride had over 17,000 people turn up to the free event this year, some of whom were indeed children. Other children were watching whist shopping too.

My lesbian ex regularly takes her eldest son on Pride marches, and he's as straight as they come... I'd sort his girlfriend out any day of the week.

To be honest it's understandable if any gay rugby player is reluctant to come out even in this day and age. Remember around '97 Tim Wilby receiving a lot of verbal abuse, chants etc from Rovers fans, and he wasn't even a player!

Think the same happened with Paul Eastwood, but this was slightly before my time so can't remember it personally.

My thoughts right or wrong are this.
I don't care if someone is gay or not.
If a person is gay that's their thing.
Several people I have worked with when it was known they were gay became a bit overt and wanted to discuss their encounters and lifestyle far more than the straight people.
Some want equality and others want something more than that.
Plenty of Gay people that have good jobs and high disposable income look down on the "straights"
