| I'd be tempted to play Sinfield at 6, giving a bit of control at stand-off, allowing Tomkins and Eastmond to play as they did in the second half. Nothing can be worse than McGuire's insistence on short, flat passing. He has zero playmaking/creativity skills and cannot play alongside an off the cuff 7 such as Tomkins.

| Quote Gaslight="Gaslight"Smith & McGuire were by far the worst players on the pitch, and I don't think it was a coincidence England didn't concede any tries down the side of Ellis, Shenton & Hall, and that's where in the rare times the ball went there - was also the most threatening side in attack.'"
Most sides - Saints apart - attack down the left it is easier to pass right to left and in Inglis they have the best attacking centre in world rugby. Shenton had a solid game but the Aussies did ask anywhere near the same questions of England'd left side defence that they did of the right.
Lee Smith struggled at centre for Leeds never mind defending against Inglis - he is not a centre and would not have played for Leeds in that position if the club had better options

I'd play Sinfield 6 without question and have a huge pack.
Eastmond to finally start a game at right centre with Myler on the bench.

I don't disagree with that - McGuire will be in the 17 for sure - one bad game doesn't make a bad player

You can't start Eastmond as the defensive centre against Inglis. He showed some ok going forward, but at the end of the day he was knocked off nearly every tackle he attempted. He is a threat with ball in hand going forward, but he's no better a defender than McGuire or Smith in the centres. He's a half-back, and we should start playing him at half-back.
The only man we have who should be right centre is Ellis. Personally I'd have included Senior or Gleeson for that job, but those are the dice we've thrown. It has to be Ellis because he is the only guy we can muster who can play right centre.

| You're better off calling in Gleeson to play at centre or coax Senior out of retirement. At hooker, i'd rather have Newton starting than Roby. Roby's good when the other team is on the back foot and his forwards have won the arm wrestle, but he's not a starter IMO.
On a side note, it would be nice to have O'Loughlin and Hock available for the Kiwi game...

Gleeson being left out is a joke tbh but he's not there so what can we do.
I'd leave Ellis in the pack tbh so that only really leaves Eastmond, Bridge and Sykes as the options.

Sorry, can't agree. Sinfiled struggles to play well at 13, never mind 6.

5'6" against 6'5" is a non-starter. Eastmond had the benefit of playing against a tiring team but I would start with him & Tomkins, McGuire to drop out of the 17. I can't decide on the right centre, I'd prefer Senior & Shenton as the pairing, Ellis just doesn't run straight at the gaps enough for me. I'm not convinced by Bridge as a centre either. I don't know.

Do we have any sort of hope of calling a player up from outside the squad because Smith should be all over Senior or Gleeson if he has anything about him.
I know Senior has retired so fair do's but how the hell did Gleeson miss out on the squad looking at today

Its not a joke at all. He has been anonymous this year, as he has been for the last few years, and looks past it. He has no real pace, isnt too hot defensively either and just as often finds the crowd with his pass as he does his winger. He has had chance after chance and has never really performed internationally. It is time to move on.
