Hmmm.
It really does put their NRC win in perspective.
Loanees abound and when they went, so did Widnes.
It concerns me that all clubs in the championship / 1 would do something like this for a quick fix.
Anyway putting winding up Widnes "fans" aside, they have had a good season and probably will go better next season and improve the team ready for a tilt at SL.
They have the infrastucture in place, just need the players.
As for Fev.
Absolutely brilliant., Very well done.
Hope they make it through to the final and possibly win it.
Sadly though, Even if they did, unless they get a Des Johnson and WMBC to ignore Cas and Wakey, they are going to be left out in the cold regarding assistance to apply for SL.
The next two seasons will sort out all the competitions and then the RFL may see what a curates egg they have created.
Playing the game to them is only a minor part of the overall business, which is sad because to me, and I would suggest most others, playing the game and the results is exactly what RL is about and not really about plastic seats, etc.'"

| I hope Barrow and Featherstone make the final this year, Sheffield win the NRC and Toulouse and Halifax make the GF next year, and Whitehaven win the NRC the year after so that the RFL have a nice wide choice of SL candidates!  |

Widnes really have taken their eye off the ball since winning the cup. The more "points" they have (Championship final appearances and NRC wins) the less competition they have from other teams come license time. |

They dont have any competition , nobody else is anywhere near them |

It was a great win for Fev and fully deserved. Widnes have not been good this year and that came from a bad start and then a new coach who couldn't bring in players he wanted, except on loan. Hopefully we'll have a better crack at the league next year with a fully 'Cullenised' set up, with plenty of upstream go forward from our big units.
I really hope Fev go on to win it, always had a soft spot for them and enjoy trips up there. They have hit form at the right time, Fax are in a slump and Barrow are beatable in finals, so it's possible.
The only down side to all of this is that I should be really gutted today after defeat, but thanks to the crazy set up these days, it doesn't make any different to us at all, except that the prize money would have been nice! All we need to do now is stay finanically stable and not do a Leigh! Hopefully the club will aim a bit higher than that, but this is the situation the RFL have created and so far we have exploited it very well.
