| The ashes would only work if we actually played a proper international RL calendar, and not a few games at the end of the year. Games down under in the spring, games in Europe in the Summer, 4 Nations/WC in the Autumn.
England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France all go down under, Aus, NZ, Samoa, Fiji, PNG and Tonga all come to Europe.
Of course, it will never happen because that would mean the NRL and SL putting the international game first and also giving it time to develop

| Quote Southport Saint="Southport Saint"How could you have an old fashioned tour against club sides when both seasons run at the same time?'"
Run the tour in October to November, after the SL Grand Final. English clubs stage one off friendlies on Boxing Day and New Years Day, in the offseason, and they'd get a team together and attract a crowd for a touring Kangaroo team. Likewise, no NRL club will turn down the opportunity to host a touring GB team.

| Um...yes thr would.....and for man valid reasons I will now list.
1. You make it a 12 month season with this proposal, STUPID!
2. You add more games to an over crowded calender with this proposal, STUPID!
3. Try selling a club game to an Australian audience against the worst Eng/GB side ever fielded. STUPID.
4. Whats more important, being ready for the NRL season or some exhibition game against a terrible Pommy side, duh, STUPID!

It wasn't stupid all the years that Australia could not compete with the British home or away, no one sugested that we stopped playing them. the one thing that is stupid is the Australian fixation with its own self importance. If you have any respect for the history or the future of league outside your own very small world then a 12 month a year game led by the international programe as the most important part of it with every other competition subserviant to it is the only answer. If you are not interested in that then go away stay in your own comfy world where no one will bother you or have the slightest interest in what you do. fortunatley the British for all our faults look outward to the world & wish to spread this great game.As I repeat often enough if the game had started in Australia it would not have spread past the harbour area in Sydney.

| It appears the Aussies, or at least those from Chorley want the game to go as the NFL has. Play the sport in one country and then you can call yourselves World Champions. Simples.

| Australians have started playing sports other than rugby, cricket and, er, synchronised moaning. As a result, they've started sliding down the Olympic Medals Table, Cricket world standings and are no longer RL world champions. On a wet day in Wigan later this year, they might be humbled. (I said might).

Exactly what I was thinking.
25,000 against Australia? We should be playing in much bigger grounds for this game. Especially since it's a one-off.
