| We held an open meeting in the area tonight, so I just want to give the rugby league world the latest on our new stadium
The club hope to be in a position by the end of August to apply for planning permission if they can raise £50,000 by then to complete the things that need doing to have a strong application.
The directors will be looking at specs this Monday to determine a final design.
It will be a community stadium with amatuer clubs being involved, mainly Pendlebury United who have 14 teams, with this we will be able to apply for various grants, it will cost around £3m to build the stadium.
It will initially have a capacity of 5,000-7,000 which will be easily expanded if ever needed.
The builders believe they can have it completed within 12-14 weeks, with that being said, if everything goes to plan, and there are no hiccups at all, then Swinton will be playing in their new stadium next season.

| Quote: GT "Oh, I'm sorry. All those capital letters, full stops and emoticons mean you must be right and so much more intelligent than me.
Now then. Explain why this would mean that other clubs would have to explain "excuses" when there have been genuine issues getting in the way of them building grounds? Or are you just being a facetious busybody?'"
Lets put it SIMPLY then.
They couldn't get off their backsides and do something about it and would rather waste money that went away from these shores.
Lets take Saints as an example.
The most successful team in the SL era and play in a stadium not classed as fit for "Frame the future" or Franchise Standard and Frame the Future went away a long long time ago.
So they "promised" a new stadium as part of their franchise, and if you remember Wakey made a similar "promise" to get into SL and played a whole one game at Barnsley.!!!!
These are but 2 examples, yet a little team like Swinton can possibly get a better standard ground in weeks and those two clubs, as an example, have sat on their collective duffs and really done Sweet FA!!!
And the excuses are for why they didn't do it before and and now for why they can't do it in the future.
Sorry if I have really had to explain it to you.

| Jesus Leaguefan - that's the first time you've ever explained one of your "crytpic" posts and quite a good one at that. Although on this occasion your first post was easy to comprehend it is to your credit that you've fleshed it out. Congratulations for finally making the effort
More of the same please.

First off, Swinton haven't got a ground in 'weeks'. The Agecroft Stadium has been rumbling on for quite a while now and they've had a few setbacks along the way. They may still come across a few more setbacks, nothing's set in stone.
Secondly, as for clubs like Saints, Wakefield, and I'll throw Salford into the mix as well, you don't know the situation behind the scenes. Neither do I. Neither do 99% of us on these forums. There's differing regulations and planning requirements on different sites and through different councils. There's other things that could go wrong - parties pulling out, companies going under. All of these things are usually unforseen, especially when this recession reared it's ugly head, and nothing can be done about them. Just because things are quiet in terms of what's going on in the public domain, that doesn't mean things are not happening behind the scenes and that clubs are sat around on their "collective duffs" doing "sweet FA."
That doesn't mean the clubs should ignore other aspects of the sport and the business that they're trying to run, however.
Just because something comes off for one club, it doesn't mean that other clubs are doing bugger all and just coming out with excuses when it doesn't come off for them.

Indeed, its hugely complicated!
story from 2006 mentioning Agecroft: www.independent.co.uk/sport/gene ... 11204.html the scheme has been knocking about for years, certainly nothing has ben done in just weeks and its OBVIOUSLY not as easy to do as some suggest - or we'd all be doing it! but good luck Swinton.

Sorry to derail the thread for a second, but my God I know GB were shocking that year, but just imagine how much worse it could have been with Thorman!
