Quote Mild mannered Janitor="Mild mannered Janitor"So, no actual facts here, just an opinion, to which you are entitled.
Can you provide proof that little thought or effort goes into it? What are you expecting to see?
For Terry O'Connor in RL there are countless piundits across skys sports coverage who are either not great at presenting or are there to deliberately state controvertial issues. Part of the issue, IMO is not the quality of ToC its how he comes across. Unfortunately the broad northern accent is not commonly heard on TV. John Wells comes over well as his accent is softer and less "to the point".
There is plenty of advertising of future sky games, so that is an incorrect statement. I am guessing here, but if you only watch RL on Sky, then no doubt you will miss the adverts for RL which occur when they are showing Tennis / Football / Cricket etc.
Can't have a dig at Sky for the Catalans games, that coverage is provided by Canal+.
But the question remines, what are you expecting to see, what, in your opinion would make it better?
One improvement all sports broadcasters could make is to avoid showing the coach on the bench / in the stands or the face of someone in the crowd, whent the game is still in progress!!!!'"
I expect to see the programme revamped every couple of years. Not the same intro sequence thats badly out of date along with the same music, some of which has been there for decades and is now cringe inducing to hear. I expect to see productions where there isn’t loss of sound or problems with equipment. The fact that nothing has changed on the Sky production for several years shows the lack of effort and the fact that you have a commentary team where at least one member can’t speak properly or clearly is an issue that has never been addressed.
I watch loads of Sky, be it Sports. Cinema, TV etc, there is not loads of advertising for RL and there certainly isn’t when it comes to Sky’s seasonal advertising.
I very much can have a dig at Sky for the Catalans games, I don’t care where they get their feed from, if the audio or pictures don’t work properly that’s their problem. I don’t pay Canal, I pay Sky.
The move from Saturday to Thursday night games, even during the football off-season is another example.
As for what would make it better? Get a new producer in, one who hasn’t been doing it for the last 20 years and has clearly “gone native”. Need rid of the deadwood, stupidly massive commentary team. Have one commentator, one contributor like every other sport manages with. Updated graphics/sound. More of the Carney/Wells stuff that actually sounds vaguely professional and less of the 5 blokes talking rubbish in a pub stuff that the commentary team give us.
