Loads of people raised eyebrows at the team finishing 5th winning the playoffs, but most people I read ( and it's certainly my opinion too ) also did indeed say "well done and congratulations". You can only win the competition as it's laid out at the start of the season, and if that means a strategy of 'just stay in the mix and make sure you peak at the knockout stage', then fair play to whichever team does that best. BUT ... it's still fair to question the effect of the structure on regular season. I'm sure there are a few people out there that somehow had a go at Leeds for winning from 5th, but in my experience, I've rarely heard anyone say anything other than, "fair play to Leeds...not sure we've got the structure right, but fair play".
