Of the regular first teamers, Danny Addy, Tom Olbison, James Donaldson and Adam O'Brien have come through our academy system. As things stand now, I'd guess the way back up is going to be blocked for some time as I don't seriously think anyone from the lower divisions is going to break through the current [as of next year] glass ceiling. To come in the top four of an 8 team mini league which contains four fully professional teams, on a much higher cap, honed by playing in a higher standard competition is going to be a mighty big ask for a team of largely part-timers. It might be manged in a one-off cup game [and that's a rarity as it is] but in a league format you're pretty much asking the impossible.

The relegated SL clubs will have parachute payments for the first time ever.

Will SL loan players be allowed in the mini-league?

What about if they've been loaned since the start of the season?

Quota players?

Assuming that the SL clubs won't have to fit championship salary cap restrictions just for the minileague, logically the championship clubs will be allowed up to the SL cap for that 7 weeks (8 clubs, play each other once).

How will that work?

Where will they get the players from?

I'm sure the RFL will look at it....

Wood,conroy,brooks,Mellor, bates and Roberts count towards total too. Thing to remember is there's a lot of lower numbers missing in our squad eg 6, 8 and 10 due to late departures of sammut, scruton and Carvell. Don't think loan players count on 25 man squad either.

I think the ratio is that for every sensible flying prop that comes over there's a further three flying cocks.
