Reading between the lines (and using a fair amount of imagination and guesswork) Paul's suggestion looks to me like some form of player exchange - that being much more sensitive than 'just' a player coming in.

I'm going for that seemingly mental Chase/Hall/Godwin/Olbison rumour being bang on the money. And on that basis, I'm off to start drinking.

Cant see godwin going anywhere, potter was talking about what he expects of him next year.. altho id love to be proven wrong

maybe godwin on loan though? he isnt going to get in team ahead of l'estrange and diskin if both fit. so maybe a loan deal until l'estrange leaves at end of year ( and that assumes l'estrange doesnt sign an extension and godwin does).

I think it would probably depend on where the balance of your squad needed strengthening.

It would probably also depend on what else you could get for your star halfback.

And on what your star halfback wanted. If you were Chase would you want to stay at a club that had just lost its 2 brightest young talents and had recruited pretty much nothing comparable in return?

I don't know the answers to any of these but they are all considerations for all parties involved.

Don't forget any compensation we might get for the poisoned dwarf. 2 players plus cash might make it possible.

Obviously things take as long as they take, but I reckon the club will be pretty keen to get the squad finalised in the next couple of weeks.

With so many new players we need as much time as possible in training to bed in the new playmakers with the existing ones.

I wouldnt get so fixated on it being godwin,hall ,olbison to cas in exchange for chase. Thats the obvious rumour thats been going round but it could easily be a different player/players from our side (although hall would be likely to get a quota spot and godwin seems to have no obvious role when everyones fit) and it could be a different half we're looking at. most obvious ones that spring to mind are witt/sammut at crusaders but there are a few scattered around the league who could be potential targets.
