| Quote: Thackley Bulls "Please can someone do a curry guide report, talking about the current Bulls predicament is getting a little depressing.'"
Last week was at the newly opened restaurant Paprika (attached to their existing take-away) not a million miles from you on New Line, Greengates.
Pickles were OK but nothing special and the mixed starter the same even if fairly decent in portion.
Curiously non informative descriptions of some dishes on the menu.
" Chitali Kufta Naag - mouth watering fish dish that is highly recommended by the chef, the aroma tells you everything about the taste"
Despite this we ordered the Paprika Special with a similar vacuous description "succulent pieces of chicken breast cooked with our own herbs and spices" Whatever was in it was pretty damn good with unusual flavours to tickle a jaded pallet.
The Salom we ordered again had a different twist with methi and mild bullet chillies and was excellent.
Both had good portion sizes but not so the side dish of Aloo Gobi and the taste was good but not memorable.
Top marks to the mains from a lenghy choice of interestingly different dishes.
Will definitely go again to try some of these others even if we have to pay full price rather than the 50% we got this time as an opening offer

| Tried the Paprika Sunday night Sheesh Kebabs AWESOME. Main Chicken Tikka Keema tasty, a little mild quite red in colour unfortunately. Service very pleasant it is also licensed. Atmosphere very quiet but the World Cup was on at the same time. Will try again as it`s better than some and no after effects what so ever which at my age is a bonus

| Purely in the interest of advising away supporters about local eateries in the area (as if we needed any reason) we went tonight to the newly opened Adwadh down Manchester Rd. Used to be Zio's Italian above Friar Tucks.
If they are serioius about becomoing one of the best asian restaurants in Bradford then they have some way to go, though their actual cooking is very, very good.
Bad side, the pickle tray was poor with a saag and herb concotion that was so strong it was stringent, and the coffee was aweful.
Good side was that the dishes were really excellent with clean flavours in great balance.
The menu has sections for each area of India (north, south, east & west) and a menu to go with. Although not mandatory we ordered of the southern menu.
For starters we went with Malabar chicken strips, very tasty if a bit miserly in number, and Masala fish which was absolutely delicious.
Mains of Chicken Chettinad -tasty & fairly hot with whole green chillies , and Lamb Hydrabad Handi which if you don't like chewing on the odd cardomon, clove or bit of mace you should avoid. For me it was an outstanding dish.
You can order any main vegetarian dish as a reduced side for £3.25
The cauliflower melagu peretti in mustard and coconut was the best thing of the night, and thats saying a lot.
We refrain from further comment on the coffee
Pretty well pleased with draught Cobra @ £3.49 (not quite a pint) and the wife's namby pamby tonic @ 99p
Overall costs:
2 popadums and pickle, 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 side, 2 chappatis, 1 Roti, 2 beers, 1 tonic, 2 coffees = £35.80
Mains are 2 for 1 monday & tuesday so...might make another trip to check out north, east and west

| Karachi nosedived in terms of quality over the past year or so but it's recently rediscovered it's former quality. I think it's under new ownership now which might explain why. Chicken Bhuna and Onion Bhajis there are excellent.
Best place is still the Punjab on Listerhills Rd though. Second to none!
Worst place? Some veggie joint which Bullseye once recommended. Truly awful. I can't remember it's name.

Their Chapple Kebabs aren't as intimidatingly hot as they used to be. In fact, their Seekh Kebabs often pack a slightly bigger punch these days. I had a Chicken Chana there the other week and I couldn't finish it... huge portion which would have comfortably fed two people. Their Kebaders and grills are fantastic as well and have little to no residual effect on episodes relating to the anal sphincter and associated bowel movements.

| Back when the Chapples were in their prime, I once took the lads from work there for lunch. I recommended to our little probie that he have those kebabs and that they weren't that spicy and he'd be fine with them (he was used to kormas and suchlike, and couldn't really handle too much spice).
He phoned in sick the next day because he couldn't get off the crapper
I think he secretly hated me after that...... (although confessed to me he was smearing yoghurt on himself to try and stop the burning).

Prashad? You must have offended the staff or something as when I've been it's been pretty good. Were you wearing your Rhinos shirt, baseball cap and shorts like usual?
That would explain it.
I fancy another trip to the Punjab. Anybody else? Few beers in the FC beforehand?

My body is a temple at the moment. But a curry is allowable.

19829_1320257469.gif Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_19829.gif |

It's a favourite of my missus, a bit on the flashy side, drinks are expensive but the food is top notch. Dont go with more than 4 'cos they struggle to cope with larger groups.
Red chilli a bit higher up towards Thornbury is worth a try tho'
