Brendan Guilfolye, administrator of financially-troubled Bradford Bulls, is continuing discussions with a number of interested parties as a buyer for the Super League side is sought.
Bulls interim CEO Gary Tasker said: "Positive talks were held yesterday with a group of Bradford-based Asian businessmen and these went on until late into the night. The group have shown genuine interest in taking the club forward.
"Whilst we are cautiously optimistic regarding the outcome of these discussions, the consortium will be holding further discussions today with the Rugby Football League."

| Isn't the real deadline Friday 20th July at 8pm? When we have to field a team of hopefully better than pub standard against Leeds?
How long does it take to liquidate the club, buy the assets and raise a team?

| At the risk of sounding cynical, I hope the "investors" aren't deliberately dragging this out past wages day so they can blackmail the RFL to pay players and save a few quid themselves.

| Well, apparently BG has emailed one of the people who arranged the crisis meeting last Monday, asking if the fans can help pay the players.

Akbar's, Brendan Guilfoyle and the Rugby Football League's crucial meeting is just moments away from getting underway
Make of that what you can.

| Rumours going round are that the consortium are looking to buy back the Odsal lease, then get permission to build on the land.
They will/have looked at the Bulls ground sharing VP.
At least the Bulls will continue if this went ahead?

| It's all sounding positive.
Surely no surprise that they want clarity over the ground, as they'll surely want to develop the Coral Stand into some sort of banqueting suite for weddings, conferences etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they want to even expand the Coral Stand and have something that can host huge events.
Incidentally, I was finding out more about the guy who runs Akbars, and found this on the Bradford College Alumni site
Quote: I am sick of the negative press that Bradford receives and so I deliberately branded my restaurants 'Akbar's of Bradford.' I am a true, patriotic Bradfordian.:1kzvrwku] I believe in Bradford College and what it did for me. I now employ four hundred people and I have one hundred and twenty-two of them training at Bradford College on various courses. " Shabir is thoroughly committed to Bradford and presently lives in the house formerly owned by Ernest Busby, who built a department store that was in its day, Bradford's answer to Harrods. Similarly ambitious and committed to excellence, he feels a strong connection with the businessman who created such a memorable and well-loved Bradford brand, and he has spent time investigating Busby's history.
"I am sick of the negative press that Bradford receives and so I deliberately branded my restaurants 'Akbar's of Bradford.' I am a true, patriotic Bradfordian. I believe in Bradford College and what it did for me. I now employ four hundred people and I have one hundred and twenty-two of them training at Bradford College on various courses."'"
With that attitude. I'd welcome him with open arms

| looks like the RFL could be held at gun point.....sell the lease back cheaply to new consortium, pay July wages for the Bulls and we will take over the team on Monday....... Do the RFL have to publish full accounts ....????

| He's heavily involved with the Positive Bradford stuff too. He definitely bangs the drum for the city. I'll be delighted if this comes off.

...or maybe they are discussing a fair and equitable deal buying back the lease so they have more control going forward and the RFL are not out of pocket?
And maybe they are asking for an advance of the sky money (which would be ours anyway in time, not an RFL handout) to cover the immediate wages?
Could be either, but I'm inclined to hope for the more positive approach until we know some facts.
Sounds positive so far, and certainly seems the right kind of local investor, fingers crossed.

| Sounds like the rumours at Trin when an investor was allegedly going to take over the club in admin but wanted assurrances that Trin would remain in SL these were not forthcoming by the RFL I wonder if it will be the same stance here if it becomes an issue.

| Just seen the following comment on the T&A site
"The T&A understands that Bradford-based restaurant chain Akbars are part of the consortium looking to buy the club but not neccesarilly the main players"
