It does also work the other way.....

When on holiday in Marmaris (Turkey) there was a huge curry house with a sign outside saying "Famous chef from Bradford".

One evening, me and the Mrs decided to give the curry house a go. We asked if the owner was around and one of the waiters fetched for him. After chatting to him it turns out he was actually from Dewsbury but thought the lure of a 'Bradford' chef would bring in larger amounts of customers!

To be fair, it was a good curry!!

I was just thinking that myself this morning, when I turned right off Church Street to avoid the traffic lights at the "Crescent" crossroads with Brook Street, then drove along West Street before turning right into Brook Street. I presume you have had your butler take this issue of inappropriate street names up with your MP?

Get down wiv da kids, grandad. When we say 'street' we don't mean street, we mean [i'street'.[/i Though I do admit to liking [i'crescent'[/i, I might use that in the 'hood from now on. Innit.

All this talk of 'Crescents' and Boulevards' suggests someone is trying to come on a teensy bit 'Hawwowghahte' (or Arragit, as most of my rellies would no doubt call it, but I'm sure it has more aitches than that ).
