Then, when someone gets it right ([isomeone[/i has to be right to be honest, since virtually every possible variation has been covered by someone or other) wow, then they expect to be treated like the chuffing oracle because their half heard tale from a half conversation that a bloke on the bus who looked a bit like Leon, was having on his mobile came up trumps.

Funny thing is, IF I got genuine word in the ear from a player or official I wouldn't mention it anywhere 'cos I wouldn't like to betray the confidence........this is despite the fact that if they were telling me, I'd know for certain it was clearly no longer a secret, but I'd [istill[/i stay shtum anyway.

Anyway, since it concerns a player who's no longer at the Bulls, I feel OK letting out a bit of knowledge which came my way last week. Leon isn't going to Catalan (or coming back to the Bulls) nor is he staying at Stains, it's come out of left field a bit but he's actually going to be the figurehead signing of a new club in the USA, The San Diego Dagos, in a brand new league in the southern states. I can vouch for this, as the brother-in-law of the barman in my local had his windows done last week by a guy who works with one of Leon's biggest buddies, (obviously can't say the name).

Apparently, with this being a brand new venture, National Rugby League of America (NRLM) the rules aren't yet set out fully and at the moment there is no salary cap for the league. As there are very few RL players in the states it seems they will be raiding our shores for recruits, both to play and also to introduce the game to the locals. They are wanting sufficient players to man a 20 team league and the barman's brother-in-law says they are determined to get the best. He says the players shouldn't expect to get what the football players (American) or baseball stars get, as finances will only allow for around one million dollars per season each, at first. I have the odd nagging doubt this might have implications for us, but I'm probably bothering about nothing.
