So it does. My bad. Apologies.

Spot on Dilligaf, these are all directly comparable. I have only shown some of the standardised stats, for example the other side to Whiteheads game (from a high % of missed tackles for a forward) is that his metres gained per carry and carries per game are high. The couple of stats I have given are most relevant to a Briggs/Jeffries comparison, and if he is the rumoured player then I hope Briggs is to be allowed to settle into a partnership with Southernwood. the most relevant stats for Mason are metres gained per carry, number of carries per game, number of tackles per game, etc, all of which would make him a good addition to the squad as well as a reasonably low missed tackle %. Once I am happy with all the stats I will put them out. the most time consuming stat is going to be the % available to play, and the % picked/available unless anybody wants to do that for me or can point me in the right direction.
Briggs other stats are pretty average ie metres carried, tackles per game etc, but its only two games. Look at how long it takes some highly skilled foreign players to adapt to the premiership. We need a dedicated stand off asap.

| big clue if its ward or not is whether he plays for quins in cup match. he's in squad but cant see us being happy taking someone on loan who's cup tied, especially given we have another cup match in a couple of weeks (assuming we get past fax)

| Wards standardised stats are all similar to our first choice 4 props, BUT has played 11 out of 13 games so I will be pleasantly surprised if it is him.

| Good stats dont make a good player. Look at Hebert for example.

Very true. You've made 2016 posts for example.

who do you consider to be a good player amongst the backs? Kearney? who makes one third of the number of tackles Herbert does in a game, and has a three times worse missed tackle percentage, one third the number of tries per game, less than half the number of assists than Herbert? Yes he makes fewer errors a game than Herbert, but it is still high compared to a lot of the other backs, third worst in fact.
And yes, before you say it, I agree that Kearneys stats would be better in a team that was had few injury problems and was gelling, but so would Herberts, even more so if he had a regular stand off partnership. In fact a specialist SO would also help Kearney, so lets hope the signings are both a forward and a SO.

| Heath seems to fit the cheeky scrum half mould that everybody wants Herbert to fit, that try at Crusaders had Mr Lowes stamp all over it.
but referring back to my question, I think the player that has exceeded a lot of expectations based on the stats is Royston, and he can only get better with more SL games behind him.
I agree that statistics dont tell the whole tale. RL is a combination of graft and creativity, the stats mostly tell you about the first rather than the second. but the graft comes first.
