| Quote: Paul124897 "No, if we did indeed go for Pealeasina, Salford offered him a large chunk of money that potter thought he didn't merit. Completely different to how you're making it out to be.
You don't pay a player more than you think it's worth. If you do, your business is on a slippery slope.'"
Especially as there's only a finite amount that the club is able to spend. Paying over the odds for one player means you'll end up short in other areas.

if you look on our board fans have been saying this about dowes for the last 2 years now.

My comment about a family member being told in person by shaun that he had signed for us was completely disregarded by this cretin. I could have picked several quotes of his from this thread, all of which make him look equally ridiculous right about now.
I won't be holding my breath for any kind of admission of being at fault though, I'd be surprised if they even post under that username ever again!
But more on topic, I'm actually glad we've signed him now, especially after his man of the tournament performance at the recent 9s event.

| Said on another thread that you'd got him.
From a Wigan fans POV I must confess I am very disappointed to see him leave. He is an undoubted talent with plenty of potential and he was a breath of fresh air when he made his mark in 2009. He had confidence to take his winger on and looked very dangerous in open play with his deception and speed. His footwork's not too bad either. Sadly though his confidence dropped when he was dropped after scoring four tries against Wakefield. Some people on our board blame Noble for bringing his defensive weaknesses to the attention of the media, which brought Mick Potter to say that Saints would target Ainscough in defence & subsequently Ainscough was dropped (Wigan did go on to win the game). He then got an injury in the U20's and made only the odd appearance till the end of the season. He received a lot of criticism on the Wigan board for his faults in defence - particularly his defence under the high ball & general positioning close to the line/in open field.
2010 I really hoped that he could kick on under Mike MaGuire. It was a fresh slate for everybody and in the better coached side that we have I thought he could shine. He went to Widnes and then to Castleford where IIRC he scored a hat trick on debut, but once again his defensive faults (however minor) were brought to the attention of everyone on the board. He was then recalled back to Wigan to play against Harlequins where we played one of our worst games of the season. He hasn't featured since and was dropped from Widnes' squad a few weeks ago & was stuck in our U20's. As you probably all know he won MOTM in the floodlit nines and now has signed a one year deal with the Bulls.
IMO I think you've got an excellent deal. The lad is a talent with plenty of potential. He has proven he can play at Super League level. He wont cost you the earth and if it doesn't work out you can just release him. A fresh start though is probably what the lad needs, along with a coach who will show some faith in him. If you can coach his problems in defence then you could be on to a winner. He needs to regain his confidence back again. I honestly hope it works out for him & wish him the best of luck.
However if you were to ask me - do I think he will comeback to haunt us? I honestly would say no.

Last time I saw him he was leaving the house in his 2007 shirt to go into town saturday afternoon. He said he was meeting some friends from Luton in the Urban Park I think.
Anyway he hasn't been back since his mum got a visit by the police though yesterday. Who knows?
