| One small interesting point, not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet anywhere.
Went up to the club at lunch time to pay my £60. When asked if I was renewing from last year and said no, the lady behind the counter said, we may not have your details then as the system didn't record them all!
As it happened it did, possibly as I've been a season ticket holder / bought away tickets in the past, but may mean some people who pledged and had no intention of paying could be lost anyway...............

| Quote Adeybull="Adeybull"A condition that now no longer applies, since the club has now been able to confirm the prices.
the way it looks to be:
1. Club makes offer of season tickets for sale at £60/£99/as otherwise stated, conditional upon 10,000 pledges.
2. Fan accepts offer by making pledge, again conditional upon 10,000 pledges.
So far, we have an offer, an acceptance, a consideration and an intent to create legal relations (this stated by the club, and in accepting you accept that) so by normal law of contract you have a valid contract? The only complication is that the offer and acceptance were conditional upon a future event happening, that event having now happened. My understanding is that a conditional acceptance is deemed to be a valid acceptance (and therefore a contract is made) provided the offer is made on precisely the same conditional terms. As indeed was the case here.
So my conclusion would be that a pledge did indeed become a valid contract (as opposed to an invitation to treat) - as soon as the club declared the offer, on its original terms, unconditional. As it did on Monday. And I'd bet the mother-in-law on it...
But I'd not bet the house on it. Whilst I deal with a load of commercial law in my work, I'm an accountant not a lawyer - so the above may be way too simplistic, or plain wrong. Where is the 'Vark when you need him...?'"
But at the time the signature was provided on the pledge, the Bulls couldn't guarantee what the price might be and therefore while it might constitute an agreement in principle I am not sure how this can be treated as a binding "contract" between 2 parties. I would argue that the Bulls only put a confirmed offer on the table now and it is up to me to decide whether I want to accept it or not. I suppose it depends on what the legal definition of a "pledge" is.
Anyway, who cares, I will be getting mine + 2 kids tickets for the Stand tomorrow

| Quote Ferocious Aardvark="Ferocious Aardvark"How deluded can you get? Post number 4 by a semi-literate anonymous net mushroom, and he thinks his drivel could "put a downer on the whole pledge thing"
Sorry i haven't posted numerous times and have only become a member on here not long since, this must make what im saying false
" !! ", eh? Well, if it's a double-exclamation mark friend-of-a-friend conspiracy theory, it must surely be true. I mean, you'd put all your details on a pledge form in relation to something you had absolutely no interest in, just so random people you don't know may get a discounted ticket for something you don't care about, wouldn't you?
If you read what i actually put i said he only had to give his name and email address , really loads of details there!! and he gave a false email as he didn't want to get junk mail!!
...in which case, it isn't a pledge, then, is it, Einstein?
I didn't sign anything but pledged for four people, does that mean i that i didn't pledge either
You might well be, at least in the brain cell department, but "we" on the other hand have almost 11,000 adult pledges. Get used to it.'"
Thanks for your very impressive in-put and like previously stated i'm also included in the almost 11,000 adult pledges

| Quote Helbull="Helbull"I think your mate might have got a bit confused and signed up for the Uni RL team instead of pledging!
I know some of the staff that worked extremely hard in marketing the pledge and it annoys me that people find the need to publish negative information about the most positive thing that has happened at the club this year.
I know staff were really pushed at Bradford Uni as it was extremely busy but they worked their socks off as usual to make sure they didn't lose any custom. At the busiest time in the day, they did try to speed things up by taking less details and asking the customer if they could call them back for the rest of the details at a later date however, they still made sure they had the contact number and signature for the pledge and any uncompleted pledges that they couldn't get back in touch with were left to one side and not counted.
At the same time, Bulls staff were collecting names and email addresses from anyone interested in joining the Uni RL team for marketing purposes.
I can't believe that a so-called Bulls fan (if you are indeed a Bulls fan) would want to start a thread like this with no real proof other than "my mate told me". How about you spend more time congratulating the club on a successful marketing initiative and thanking the staff involved in providing us with the opportunity to buy our cheapest ever season ticket? Show some appreciation like the rest of us.
Rant over!'"
Im pretty sure i can class myself as a bradford fan being in my 17th consecutive year as a season ticket holder, my aim behind this post wasn't to slag any of the staff or anything along those lines, i simply wanted to voice what happened at bradford uni. Yes this may of been just one of the individuals trying to get pledges who used this tactic however it still occurred and my only concern is that she wasn't the only one doing this and it also happened at the music festival just to make the magic mark!
I also wanted to know if the pledges were legal binding as you will also see quite a few people asked this question without reply, i see you were not so quick to answer that??

| I really hope the club go to town on these idiots boasting about their fraudulent activites (ie: fake pledges) on the net.
See here from my Twitter:
@HantsCastiger Have you paid for your fake pledges you made yet Kenny? If not the small claims court awaits.
HantsCastiger @MICKtheGLED Oh no really? Gosh I can;t believe it - as if I gave my real details
@HantsCastiger Well I didn't expect you to put Kenny Tiger down. But they will find you and pursue you for the fake pledges you've made.
HantsCastiger @MICKtheGLED I pledged twenty times and there is nothing your club can do about it
HantsCastiger is Kenny off Total RL who lives in Hampshire.
Not to mention this ****
Widnes 'till i die wrote: Between me and all my mates, we must've made about a hundred pledges using fake names and contact details
Im sure there are many many many other people that have done the same
Im fairly sure they have to be able to prove it was me, im also fairly sure i covered my tracks well enough
Out of all the people who made the pledge, and had no intention of actually paying, im sure there are some idiots who didnt cover their tracks, fortunately im not one of them

| Mick, there are also some pathetic attention-seeking Walter Mitty sad types who go around telling everyone all these fantasy things they would have the gullible believe they have done. Anyone you know like that Mick?
And maybe the odd one or two genuinely mentally ill types who might even do it.

I don't know if there are gullible or mentally ill but Kenny has told everyone on Total RL and here and on my twitter what he's done.
That Widnes supporter doesn't seem to have the intellect to even pledge for himself let alone make 100's of fake pledges.

You can still (to the best of my understanding) have a contract the performance of which is dependent upon a specific outcome, provided both parties agree that the contract is made subject to that condition, which then effectively becomes part of the contract?
I have just drawn up some commercial contracts where the contract becomes effective only when a separate contract between different parties has been signed. A few weeks ago, I drew up some Memoranda of Understanding, where certain clauses were agreed to establish contractual relations immediately notwithstanding the document as a whole was pre-contractual, and certain further clauses would become contractually-binding only if and when a specified outcome was attained.
How relevant these examples are to this situation I guess needs a lawyer to tell us. But, as you say, it should hopefully be largely academic if the vast majority who pledged do as you and I are going to do, regardless of whether or not it is enforceable!
