| Quote: Sonic Star "Burgess set for Souths move
But it's understood there is little more to take place in the process than for the funds to land in the Bulls' bank account.
In their negotiations, the Bunnies reminded the Bulls that if they hung on to the 20-year-old for another year they would get no compensation at all for his departure.
It is understood the fee involved in the transfer is a significant six-figure sum.'"
cr@p.
One question of many I have, is it a 6 figure $sum or £sum ($100,000 = £54,641)

Well, it comes from an Aussie source, so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the fee in proper money.
No doubt it will be "undisclosed".

I suspect you're spot on with that.

| True, neither club has an interest in naming the fee.

| Undisclosed = Peanuts = Nowhere near the true value.
Rather we keep Sam for another season then allow him away this year for next to nothing.

Aye, and Eddie is hinting at it too. And, as we all know:

On the contrary, if it is a handsome fee then Bradford have plenty interest in naming the fee.

I wont be too interested in the exact amount anyway, it's what we do with it now before next season that matters. It could be 1,000,000 but if we dont use it right its useless, whereas if we used £75,000 (say) to buy a quality impact prop, a quality half and a quality back then fine, we'll have done the best with the hand we've been dealt. It all depends on whos available for what, and none of us on here know for sure.
So I'll wait and see how the whole recruitment picture pans out before I pass too much judgement, as its clear that our plans will have been changed/influenced by this move, which is probably why we've not heard any more on the INS until the main OUT has been officially confirmed.
Its going to be impossible to spin positively the fact that Sam is leaving, however much the logic is laid out, so the club just needs to move on and announce something else positive and thank Sam for his efforts and hope he is sucessful in Oz and remind him where he might want to return to when he does come back.
But Im gutted he's off, even though I can't blame him really, and the club can't force players to stay who want to go - you wont have the same performance from the player anyway if he feels trapped and then he walks out for free anyway. Rubbish situation all round unless you're a souths fan.

| Ok doom and gloom merchants....
what exactly do you want the club to be doing right now?
As far as you know they are getting the best possible deal for Sam, to the benefit of the Bulls and the fans.
It is Sam who is in the wrong here isn't it? He has left us in the lurch, too late in the day to sign a replacement. Why blame the club?

How does this theory work now then?'" Made the same point a few weeks back on another thread. It appears the SM now isn't the USP.

As I said earlier I'm keeping my powder dry until I see what the club does in response.

I suspect the club have known about this for a wee while now TBH. If so, I expect the club to name a hell of a good replacement in order to appease the fans.
For some, losing Burgess without a marquee replacement would be the final straw I suspect.

But do people really think the club have been sat around doing f-all? I am sure that they have tried/are trying to find a replacement. Perhaps the player(s) are not out there.
If not, then yes fine, abuse away.

| Quote: Terry Monster "'A substantial amount'
Well given the fact that Fielden was sold to Wigan for almost half a million with 1 year remaining on his Bulls contract then you would have to hope that Peter Hood would be asking for quite a bit more dollar dollar bill ya'll for Sam Burgess.
All these reports are just being regurgitated, bu why his Hood talking to the Aussie press and not the fans of his own club?'" It's because we seem to be a inconvenience he could happily live with out if he could.

If that is the case then more should have been done to keep the lad happy at the club. Especially as he has only recently signed a new contract.
If he was SO happy to sign a new deal last year then what has changed and why? (not a direct question to you debaser)
