Quote Bullseye="Bullseye"Let's not start slitting the wrists yet. I expect the business with Orford isn't going to sort itself out overnight. The club could easily just let him go but the directors have a duty get the best deal they can. Also recruiting a quality halfback is unlikely to be that easy as they don't grow on trees.
We need some decent compo for letting him go, who knows it may help provide money so we can buy someone which would drastically increase our options.'"
problem with that NRL clubs very rarely pay any form off compo/transfer fees. Suspect best we could hope for is a player in exchange but if its a halfback I'd guess it would be a relative unknown and therefore unlikely to qualify for a visa.
Tend to agree with the view that theres no point releasing any news until situation is resolved. no point announcing he's going, if indeed he is, until we have replacement lined up and visa approved. Also wont help our negotiating position with other clubs. Bit different negotiating for a player to come as backup to orfod as opposed to bringing one in as straight replacement. Other club would know they had us over a barrel and price would go up accordingly.
