Was I the only one to read Hood's comments reported in the T&A the other day, and sense we might not be getting as much in the way of new signings as we expected, and may end up promoting more youth earlier as a result? ust from the nuances in the wording.
The comment about Semi's future being tied up in a coupe,of weeks, when we were told before it would be end of last week, made me wonder if we had missed out on a signing and had gone back to Semi with an improved offer.
All wild speculation at the moment, and I guess arising because too few people trust the club? Its getting more and more like Substandard in the the "Believe Leeds" and "Hetherington's Sleeve" times on here every day. If the end result though was how it turned out for Leeds, I guess we could live with it...

I'll keep this short - the club is the club. Handwring all you want but unless you know better than me, it's Hood or nothing.

Medley did say that the best of the academy side would be promoted to the first team squad en bloc when they're ready. Maybe next season is when that's going to be? I hope they really are ready if that's the case and it's not being done because the club's hand has been forced due to them being unsuccessful with other recruitment options.
As you say all we can do is sit tight and hope for the best. I hope they have something positive to report soon as I can bet this isn't getting the season ticket sales rolling!

Another twist in the saga.
NZ Warriors to target SL players.
A regular in the Great Britain side, Ellis is the type of player Bell will be after. New Zealand has enough talent coming through to fill out the club's junior ranks. Bell wants only finished products.
[iBradford prop Sam Burgess would certainly fit the bill. Already an established international at just 20, Burgess is rated by many as the best young forward in the game - in either hemisphere. He is contracted to Bradford for another season, but Manly and Souths are already circling.
His manager, Chris Caisley, has said it is just a matter of time until Burgess switches to the NRL, but the sticking point with British players is usually money. The exchange rate means the money on offer in the NRL falls well short of what the best British players can earn in Super League.[/i

Burgess set for Souths move
By STEVE MASCORD
Bradford Bulls have agreed to release England prop Sam Burgess from the final season of his contract and he will join South Sydney next year on a four-year deal.
rugbyleague.com can reveal that after more than a month of negotiations, the Rabbitohs have agreed to pay the Bulls compensation to buy out the 2010 portion of Burgess' tenure at the Grattan Stadium.
"All I can tell you is that that negotiations are ongoing,'' Souths chief executive Shane Richardson said.
"We are keen to have Sam at the club and we are working towards that end.''
But it's understood there is little more to take place in the process than for the funds to land in the Bulls' bank account.
In their negotiations, the Bunnies reminded the Bulls that if they hung on to the 20-year-old for another year they would get no compensation at all for his departure.
South Sydney owner Russell Crowe was involved in the early stages of negotiations, wining and dining the young star and his manager during filming of the upcoming Robin Hood film.
"Sam didn't drink but he sure can eat,'' Crowe said later.
It is understood the fee involved in the transfer is a significant six-figure sum.
Burgess is the third prop signed by the Rabbitohs for 2010, after Brisbane hulk Dave Taylor and Queensland Origin star Ben Ross, from Cronulla.
They already boast the man ranked the leading front rower in the world, injured New Zealand captain Roy Asotasi.
Meanwhile the British flag will be flown on NRL grand final day by Gareth Widdop, the fullback in Melbourne's under 20s side.
Widdop played for Yorkshire Under 16s before emigrating with his family. He has been offered a senior contract with the Storm next year and shapes as Billy Slater's fullback understudy.
The Melbourne Thunderbolts Toyota Cup side takes on Brisbane at 2.10pm Sydney time

Sorry, I was taking lessons in that from the club because they are doing a super duper job of lightening the gloom at the moment.
Lets see,
1. Out of the play-offs
2. Crap coach and backroom staff.
3. Declining crowds
4. Imminent loss of our brightest star.
5. Appearing no further forward on the OSV.
And what have the club done about it? Got Paul Medley to say a few words in order to appease the masses.
It is a crap situation and I, for one, would like to know what they are doing about it because they cannot continue the "Building for the Future" poppy anymore.

Maybe we could have "De-commissioning for the future" for next years slogan.
