somone on the t and a site posting about luke burgess leaving leeds? anyone heard anything?
you would think it would be to us or souths, the latter struggling for cap money if true.

I think that's called a rhetorical question.

I think we are strong enough in pack to cope with short term injuries but a long term one in the prop department would leave us solely relying on youngsters.

tbh I dont see luke burgess as a better option than either hargreaves or kopczak. And given salary he'd expect as a SL player with a few season under his belt think were better served cap wise sticking with crossley and tom burgess as our backup options (plus of course langley and elima could cover there too). If we were to use cap space on another prop it would have to be someone who was a genuine improvement over hargreaves/koppy imo to make it a sensible option.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; just because we've got cap space and a quota spot it doesn't mean we HAVE to use them.

If someone exceptional becomes available and they'd improve our squad then I'm sure the club would try and sign them. But at the moment, we don't really need to add to the 11 new guys who've already joined the club along with the new head coach and assistant.

Spot on to me. You never know what the future will bring, or which position we may be suddenly desperate to fill in the next few months, so room under the cap AND a quota spot sitting in the bank for now seems reasonable to me.

One thing to consider as well is that the quota spots go down by one after this season I think. Meaning that we'd have to offload one of the guys we currently have if we signed a new player for more than the 2011 season regardless of how they played.

I also thought that I remembered them saying that, but when I looked it up recently, I couldn't actually find a reference to it. Instead all I could find was that 2012 would be the same as 2011, although this was "subject to change".

better not look on t&a forums then. doommongers on there are ready to lynch the board cause they havent used cap space to sign another half (despite there being no one suitable available ). Herberts missing one match, hardly the end of the world those idiots are making out.
