| They must have persuaded him to take fair drop in salary to keep the Club under the SC Limit. If that is the case he obviously wants to be back at Odsal and will be motivated to get an extention and a better pay for next season.
If he has come on board I do hope he actually turns up and shows everyone he has the bottle to play the game physically this time round!

Wasnt he announced as "even better than Leon" at the very start, maybe a bit of stability would help to show that talent. If he has been training with the Bulls Potter will have a good assessment of his attitude. so a one year contract would give him a fair crack.'"
Regardless of what he might have been announced as, he is nowhere close to Leon's level.
The major concern I'd have would be defence. It was garbage on the edges last year and KP wouldn't do anything to improve that based on the evidence of his performances for Quins last year. That said, with the bit between his teeth and ball in hand, he can be nigh on unstoppable.

I think people need to stop comparing Karl to Leon. For one, their careers have taken entirely different paths, and they've made their names in RL playing in different positions (even if Karl did play some 6 in academy rugby).
I'm delighted tbh, not just as a fan of Bradford, but for Karl. I know he's stoked to be back at Bradford and I have no doubt he'll be giving it everything in 2012. Will be a very, very shrewd recruit and a great addition to our backline. I see Purtell - Lulia - Karl - Kear as a good backline, and a much improved one.

This. I hope the realisation that this is potentially his last shot at super league puts some fire in his belly. With healthy competition for places in the backs it should encourage these players to play out of their skin, something we didn't see last year when you got in the side not based on merit but rather lack of personnel

You're right. There's absolutely no value in comparing the two of them. Same surname, different characters, different skillsets, different positions, different players.
I'm happy for Karl if he's ready to take the opportunity but I'm not quite as excited about the signing as you are. I still remember the play at Quins last year where his dreadful pass led to Whitehead's breakaway try and effectively killed off the game.
I know that's an isolated example but too often his play has been dotted with moments of sloppiness. I hope to be proved wrong.

Problem is, I remember the exact same things being said at the start of last season. 'Players with a point to prove', 'increased squad depth and competition' etc... Could pluck the relevant pieces from the T&A's pre-season stuff.
Sorry to be so cynical but I see nothing yet to suggest there will be a vast improvement on the pitch this season. Potter needs to get more out of the players and the players have to be more committed to learning and adhering to the necessary gameplans and structures.

| Pryce always has his critics, and rightly so, but i'd be more than happy to have him our team. His job is to score tries and that is what he does. It's a shame really because he could have been Englands very own Greg Inglis.

| I would take him on a reduced salary as a back up winger, that is all. If Kear and Ainscough are both fit then Karl should be nowhere near the starting side - suggesting we play him as a centre is insanity.
You can be full of as much optimism as you like, but we've seen Karl at three different SL sides now and his attitude has always been the same, don't kid yourself into thinking he will be any different this time around.
It's frustrating because going forward he is, and has always been, quite a prolific scorer. But his defence and overall work rate just isn't good enough for any side with playoff aspirations.

| His defence is just like most other wingers in SL is, mediocre. However, he's got height and weight on his side which make him a more formidable opponent than Ainscough. Besides, he's twice the player Ainscough will ever be, even at half heart.

| Ainscough is a very good player. Last year he was unlucky with injury but when he was fit he was one of the best players we had. Trouble is we didnt use him enough and never got the ball out wide.

| He isn't a very good player and never will be. He's your average SL winger, to small and lightweight, terrible in the air and the only things he's got going for him is a bit of speed and a decent work rate. IMO of course.

| On a good day Karl Pryce is a real asset - the problem was he only had a couple of good days for us last season. Very frustrating as he has so many attributes (physique, speed) that could make him a great player.

Even if he never fulfilled that potential at 18 that led to such a comment, he still has ability. But with KP and Ainscough surely its not either or, B4C, ideally you want to be able to choose from a big one or a fast one, but even more important is the ball getting to them!

| Pryce is big and fast though, best of both really.
If we do sign him, I can't see Ainscough getting much game time to be honest.

I think your assessment's maybe slightly harsh but I do agree that the majority of Bulls fans appeared to overrate Ainscough last year.
In such a bad year, a lot of people appreciated his impressive workrate but then proceeded to confuse that workrate and commitment with playing ability.
Ainscough's a competent winger and a good option to have in the squad but I do agree with B4C that he's probably middle of the pack in terms of SL wingers.
