He's obviously going to sign for Leigh, which I have no issue with. Hopefully he'll have a mare against us
I guess so Paul, and the fans will welcome him back with open arms - he was very popular here. Full marks to the Bulls and their fans, who have, predictably, handled this very well.
Tell you what though - much as I would love to see him at Leigh, I'd much rather his wife was restored to full health, and he stayed at the Bulls. Sadly though, that isn't an option.

| All the best to Gregg's wife. Glad he's been released in order to be closer to her. Hope he goes well at Leigh.

| Just looking at the teams in the championship, and how ill his wife is, wouldn’t be surprised if he takes some time out, only 3 teams local to Leigh in this division

| I said recently that if McNally's wife was indeed this ill, the right thing for the club to do was release him and not start trying to get compensation as one or two on here were suggesting. The club has now done that and well done to them. Absolutely the right thing to do and the right noises made in the statement that some things come before the game, the sport or the club. Hopefully it's a help to Gregg and his family and all the best to them for fighting the illness and recovering as best is possible.

Superbly put! We'll done.

There you go mate, I agree with what you said though from reports sounds like he was great for Oldham last year and from reading the Wakey board people have high hopes for him for the future

He lives next door to the LSV, (a neighbour and big mate of Ridyard) so I guess Leigh would be ideal for him - providing we offer him a decent wage, and the legal case he (and others) took out against Leigh, on being relegated, has been settled!

Let's just get it sorted and he can be where he needs to be. Good luck to him and his wife for the future.

I think us letting him go without demanding a fee for the remainder of his contract is our contribution

Very true Paul. A marvellous gesture. Hope we can raise the extra cash, and get him settled in his job, at least.

Without playing devils advocate Alan do you think this is Beaumonts way of stringing it out because of his previous case against the club? seen a few mentions of it on your board

More his way of trying to get another good player into the club without having to really pay for him I think.
I'd put nothing past him after the way he blamed everyone but himself for them not being able to afford expensive contracts last year and tried to make out players were going to make the club go under if they didn't choose to terminate their deals.
I've met a lot of nice Leigh fans in the last few years who I'd never wish anything but good things towards. Their chairman though, is a buffoon.

| So he's asking the fans for £15k while he drives around in a lambo?
If I were a Leigh fan I would find it really difficult to not be even a little bit miffed at that. Uncle Derek has probably lost more than that down the back of his couch.

Why?
Doesn't he have right to do what he wants with his own money? He's already poured far more down the 'black hole' of Leigh RL than any of us could afford (and, by the way, far more than any of our recent owners!). I don't see it as relevant what kind of car he drives, or where he takes his holidays -at the end of the day he is a businessman who has the right to do whatever he likes with the fruits of his labour.
Perhaps he's decided that the club now has to run as a sustainable entity, rather than the 'boom and bust' of the past couple of seasons - something which many people has lauded Andrew Chalmers for doing with our club.
Frankly I don't think he owes Leigh anything...
