In League Express this week, Rick Stone is quoted as saying "We haven't brought anyone in of note yet, which is disappointing" in a piece where he says he isn't happy with their recruitment. He clearly rates Gaskell & Clough!

What an odd thing for a coach to say publicly. I bet Ken Davy was thrilled to hear that.

The rest of the article (which I admittedly couldn't be bothered typing) isn't much better. He sounds thoroughly unhappy with the recruitment that was signed before he got there.

Even if he is unhappy with it, it's ridiculous to come out and say it in the press like that. Regardless of whether he's right or not, the only effect it will have is to thoroughly demoralise those players brought in. He should be publicly supporting them, whilst privately ranting to the wife what a load of crap it is.

It all screams of covering his own backside with a "You can't blame me if we're crap this year" statement.

That said Clough is a half decent prop when he can be bothered, certainly at our level and Gaskell is a fair half, but Hudds don't look to be short of halves to be fair, so you do wonder just where he's going to fit in. Amateurish from Stone though - there is a vast difference between firing them up by saying he expects to see some imporvement and literally telling them they are a waste of space [cap, that is...]

From what I heard, Hudds were looking to offload all 3 contracts. Thewliss signed them and Stone didn't want them, I guess that was the delay (and maybe still is with Ferguson)

The few times I've seen him play he's always stood out, If he stays fit it will be interesting to see who has the better impact in the sl him or ridyard

HOw the hell have you read that from above?! If anything, it's the opposite, like why have the Giants signed Championship players that are probably below them. Sorry mate, but I doubt anyone could care less about Hudds.. Even the Rhinos rivalry now is a lot softer as we are so far detached from them.

Had to chuckle at Gnats "holding the upper hand"! Listen mate, even where we are, deep in doo-doo, in administration, and league-less, we are STILL a much bigger club than the poor old Gnats, and that's what rankles with their few fans. The irony of that is one of the few things that lets us Bulls fans still have the occasional smile.

It also annoys them that while we were in Super League, they were trying to make a big rivalry between the two clubs, only to find that Bradford fans just really didn't care about them all that much, no matter how hard they tried. We're only talking about them now because it's in relation to two players that have just left our own club.

Still, maybe they could put a t-shirt on sale saying they hold the upper hand over Bradford...

Yep, still more bothered about Halifax and Leeds than shudders. The bitterness appears to be almost entirely one way as far as I can tell. Its an impressive misreading of the situation above. let them enjoy themselves though, bless em.
