I agree with that, but he still makes some awful decisions. Ian Smith has been one of the best this year imo, with Alibert and Silverwood the worst, followed closely by Bentham.

| During the Cas v Wigan game on Sunday, you could hear everything Ganson was saying to the players. And to be honest, he didn't make a bad call.
He made a mistake with us in 2007, but can we please get over it?

Everyone on here says Ganson is great, he is amazing well it's amazing that we have yet to see him return to Odsal since the joke of a performance that he put in during the 16-12 loss to Huddersfield with two of the Huddersfield tries coming from forward passes and to rub it in a knock on.
Even in the cup loss at Catalans his last game this year for us (thank God just the two)
You can see how he got the Dragons back into the game with those four penalties on the bounce in the second half.

| Surprised that Ganson's early award of penalties to deny two tries in last year's Eng vs Wales game attracted little comment. Each on their own was an example of vanity refereeing similar to MM07, but to come up with the second in the same game as the first... Has he eliminated this element to his officiating this season?

| Quote: DILLIGAF "Ganson is the only one who has had the balls to stand up to the mouthy players this year (with the exception of the sending off of Brough). Almost every other ref lets the likes of Briers continue to question decisions all the way through, Ganson just tells them if they don't shut up, they'll go off the field.
This year, every time I've seen Ganson, I've been impressed with him having the guts to give some decisions (Howell red card also springs to mind) when you see other referees in the same situations bottle it.'"
Gansons awful.
It would be a shame if he takes this 'harsh' approach to the final and hands out cards for silly offences, which will affect the result.
I for 1 would prefer to see a 13 a side final for 80 minutes.

I find it hard to consider your opinion on officiating at all considering the b*llocks you talk on here every week about referees. You are probably the most biased person I have ever seen post on forums, despite some pretty hefty competition in previous years. You judge referees purely on how many decisions they give to Bradford's opposition, regardless of whether they are correct or not.

If people deserve to be sent off, then they should be sent off. Simple as. All this crap about "letting the game flow" and "being invisible" is just that, crap. It is up to the players to play within the rules. If they break them, they should be punished. Ganson is the only referee that actually punishes players instead of bottling it just so he doesn't get shouted at.
99% of the time people slag off a referee for "giving everything against them", it's because of their own team's lack of discipline.
A referee is essentially there to enforce the rules of the game. If the players don't break them, he won't penalise them. Simple.

Someone forgot to tell Mr Ganson that at MM last year then...

That is the ideal for refereeing. So whats Ganson to do with it?
I'm not being petty but his demonstrable history is one of instances of incompetance and bloody minded intransigence.

| Not a huge fan of Mr Ganson, but on the main topic I have to say that I really wish we [iwere[/i in the Final. On current form I'd back us to beat either Hudds or Wire
But then we haven't had the form to get to the Final in the first place

| I'd much rather have a ref like Ganson who has the bottle to send people off when they deserve it than Russell Smith who got every big game going which he marred by a phobic disregard for the red card and near addiction to the yellow.

Most referees now seem to have that same phobia of the yellow too.
