Yeah totally fair comment. I feel exactly that way.
Yet again, the dwindling band who still come to watch got badly let down by the team. And it's not much use pointing out that some tried hard, and some did OK, as it makes no odds.
Yet again, we oh-so-predictably make a catalogue of schoolboy errors, and still work our way into what should be a winning position.
Yet again, at times our defence looks like a potato sack parade.
Then yet again our kami kaze masochistic streak emerges and we contrive new ways to blow games.
Yet again, the faithful trudge off depressed, disconsolate and demoralised. Even more so today sine that was the "must win" game to have any chance of the playoffs, and some had hoped against hope that the team would play like it.
Someone commented that some of these players don't seem to want to play for the club, and this is an easy conclusion to reach. But whatever it is they want to do, how can we yet again self-destruct? Which sumb bit could you make up? Tadulala letting a ball bounce a metre infield "thinking" (and I use the term loosely) that it would go out?
Deacon choosing THEN to throw an oh-so-bleeedin-obvious interception, then compound it with a major brainfart holding down (shaking down?) penalty? So many fsck ups, so little space.
A truly abject effort from the majority of the team. Even Menzies, apart from a couple of short weaving runs, looked uninvolved.
There is something badly, very badly, wrong. Some malaise is infecting our club and we are in a tail spin that is going to be difficult to get out of. And we will lose so much money this year that god knows what we'll be able to do for players and wages next season. Burgess off to Aus? Who the fsck would buy him if he plods around like that? Might as well draw his cash for nothing like the rest of the miserable, lazy shower.
I'm sorry for being doom and gloom. It's all I can see right now though, since if the players can't do more than that in a genuine life-or-death home game against opposition that ha slost six on the spin and is weakened, then they must have no desire, and no self-respect.
