Just got a text to say we signed Briggs.. From someone who knows him.. hmmmm..

The signing is said to be a 'solid' signing. Can a young, unproven Championship player be classed as solid? Potential for the future, yes, but solid indicates already proven at this level IMO.

Will we have 2 new additions thi week?

Apparently Briggs has signed today, meaning it wasn't already confirmed. I don't think Connor would say there is a signing to announce unless he had already signed, so hopefully 2 signings this week.

Given we only have Herbert as a proven halfback and Southernwood as promising back up we need some depth and Briggs would provide that with some potential too. If it is Briggs coming in then at least we have back up for the 2 halfback positions behind Kearney and Herbert who both have had injury issues in the recent past.

I'm not sure where this idea's come from that we're going to announce two signings this week. Any ideas or are people just assuming...

perhaps a little of way connor talked about signing as a done deal, yet from sounds of it briggs only signed in last hour or two, added to fact that paul12... seems pretty convinced it wasnt briggs and had heard a different name (and he's been 100% accurate with his info so far). guess we'll find out in next few days.

I wouldnt class Briggs as as solid signing either. Just a kid with some potential that is probably to good for the Championship Leagues. Either way, he seems to have been highly sought after and thought of so it it turns out to be Kyle that is the 'solid' signing then very well. We've now got a extra pair of hands in the halves and who knows what he could become under a quality coach that will give him a chance.

Surely, in this context, the word 'solid' refers to the fact of his signing and not to how he might (or might not) perform?
