I haven't seen as many games as you guys (in fact, just the Sheffield one), but I still say Pickersgill isn't a fullback. He's a halfback. There are a lot of common skills involved in the two roles, but the ones that are key to fullback don't seem to be the ones possessed by Brandon. Seems like this would have been the opportune time to give him a chance in the halves with so many others missing, and I wonder if that was the plan had Milnes not ended up being passed fit.

This would mean that Kear rates Pickersgill as (at best) our 6th choice half back given he preferred Miles and Wildie over him.

Being on the far side from Ryan's try, can anyone tell me why Richardson was having a complete hissy fit about it?

In my opinion he was looking for someone to blame for the dreadful marker defence. He appeared very frustrated but didn't verbalise that to his teammates instead the linesman and referee got a mouthful. Great instinctive play from Ethan for that score.

He reacted like that because in the tackle b4 on the winger, his head went into touch then back into play again. Happened quickly but there is photo evidence that shows he was in touch.

Erm... not at all convinced by that having watched the replay repeatedly. Not that it matters. He was laid out full length on his back, and so couldn’t have quickly moved anywhere. And following that tackle there were no protests, which there would have been had he been in touch. He seemed to have been arguing that Ryan was in touch, which he wasn’t, but with the game in tha balance not surprising that he tried to get the try disallowed.

Stiil can't see how Ryan got through the gap - it can't have been wider than 12 inches. The film of the try is from behind play, and Ryan certainly lies across the touchline. However, what the replay doesn't show clearly, is when he grounded the ball. Both the ref and tj were right there, and had the best view. (apart from perhaps Richardson icon_wink.gif ) It certainly looks like Pownall wasn't in touch when he fielded the penalty kick - leading to his stupid outburst. So, would Bradford have scored, had the tj not put his flag up? Maybe not from that particular play, but they undoubtedly had the momentum at that stage, and a score looked on the cards. Ifs, buts, and maybe's eh?! It definitely said, on the media (including Leigh website and Leigh Centurions twitter icon_wink.gif ) that Ryan had scored, so, officially, he did.

In the end, the scoreline was decisive - and deservedly so - but wouldn't life be boring if we didn't have 'talking points', especially those about match officials?!

Bradford definitely definitely had the 'rub of the green' in that 2nd half, and the way the balls fell nicely for Wildie & Evans to run & score 80m tries unopposed, from our poorly executed passes when we were attacking. On another day, they might have 'bounced/landed' differently and gone elsewhere. We probably deserved a 6 point defeat, not a 14 one....but yes, we were crap.

I disagree mate.

I thought Leigh played well. To be honest, there were many similarities to our game at Widnes the week before where we played well but didn't get the 'rub of the green' (or the points). It often happens when two sides are fairly equally matched and the team which get 'the bounce' gets the points. I doubt the leigh team got a bollocking from the coach, except perhaps for the indiscipline, though ours was far from perfect either. It was a cracking game of rugby league.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

You may have got 'the rub of the green' on occasions, but there is an old saying that "you make your own luck." You kept at it when it looked like we might have been getting the decisions, but we didn't do much to earn the luck in the second half. You deserved your victory, and I'm looking forward to our next meeting.

Oddly, with little expectation from our team, this season, I have thoroughly enjoyed almost all of our games, even when we have been beaten. Apart from Sunday's scoreline, our biggest defeat had been by just seven points, at 'Fax. Some close, entertaining games. What more could we ask for?
