So I should be afraid of what might just happen in 150 years time? The chances of an Islamic state within mine or my daughter's lifetime are so remote as not to cause me concern. I am very concerned about the situation in Afghanistan etc, & its causes, especially as my brother in law goes back out there in 6 weeks. I am very concerned about the effects of those who manipulate religion, the principles of freedom of expression, & the pleasures that you list, but my comments were limited to this country & its likelihood of it becoming Islamified. Unless we start giving autonomy to the regions the fact that Bradford might have a higher degree of religious & racial bigots is relatively insignificant. It is when racist scum like the EDL exploit it that the difficulties in Bradford get blown out of proportion.

Given the concerns that many people have about "Islamification" wether it takes 10 years or 50, how do you think it can be addressed if not through demonstration?..It is being addressed in other european countries at government level but not in the UK. maybe a more open dialogue at least would help?

IMO those demonstrating under the EDL banner are ignorant, racist scum, unable to see beyond the headlines of the Sun. I have been on many demonstrations & non-violent direct actions against things I oppose, & have campaigned against restrictions on my right to do so. I would wager 99% of EDL are hardly aware of the real effects of recent legislation. EDL are not marching in Bradford to express concerns, they are trying to inflame a powder keg.
Please clarify what other European countries are doing to address Islamification.

Switzerland have recently banned any further building of Minorets and Belguim and France are set to ban the Burka which is likely to be followed by others.

The EDL is(or claims to be) a multi ethnic, multi faith organisation with Jewish, Black, Sikh members who oppose radical Islam. I'm sure they have their fair share of racist idiots that attach themselves to group for their own agenda. It's a not a good debate. I expected you would come back with the burka ban. On one extreme the burka is a disgusting piece of modern slavery that is not a requirement in the Koran , on the other it should be anyone's right to cover their face if they choose to do so, as long as it is appropriate. If France & Belgium really are so concerned about women's rights they could start by addressing inequalities in opportunity & pay. Overall, I'm probably in favour of the ban.

I don't know what you mean by Islamification as I do not buy the Sun or Mail. If you mean are more young people turning to extremes of Islam, undoubtedly. I'm not in favour of anyone turning to any religion as an answer to local or global situations. However, if you think banning symbols of Islam, real or pretend, is going to stop this without addressing why scores of young people are prepared to blow themselves to millions of pieces I fear you are going to be disappointed.
