If true that would kinda sum him up. Just a shame he did not quit when no-one else wanted him.

Sum him up?
Whatever your opinion of his coaching abilities and don't think you can question his commitment to the club.
I expect he will stay with the Bulls until the end of his current deal unless a settlement can be reached with the RFL that suits us better. Perhaps the Bulls would rather bring in a replacement immediately and combined with a compensation package from the RFL is the best deal.
I can't see Macca simply quitting the club though.

There are obviously more issues involved here than we are now aware of.

| Quote: mystic eddie "I don't blame him. I just cannot believe he has options.
The sooner he goes the better and if he leaves us in the lurch I wonder what his apologists will have to say?'"
You have been demanding for so long now that he should resign immediately, regardless of contract or consequences - yet now that looks a distinct probability, you accuse him of leaving us in the lurch. You can't have it both ways, no matter how hard you might try. Can you? It looks like you are about to get what you have been wishing for for so long.
I have seen nothing reported from the club which suggested they looked keen on reappointing him. That, indeed, was the point Connor Murphy was making in the impassioned, and still VERY intriguing article with which I started this thread. If that truly be the case, and having been on the receiving end of the attacks of many people like yourself, if he has other options then would it be any surprise if he chose to pursue them?
I read today Mozza signing Macca's praises. Others far better placed than anyone on here have done the same. I doubt people need to worry about him having options.
If this IS now a done deal, let us all hope that the club is in a position to appoint the kind of successor that you and others of like mind expect. An appointment from outside would be the first since Brian Smith, of course. Do we hope for another Brian Smith?
I hope people have indeed been very careful in what they wished for.

His lack of recent coaching would maybe suggest he wouldn't want a FT Head Coach position?

[i@bu07lls I think I nailed my colours firmly to the mast with my piece last week. I would be very disappointed if he leaves now.[/i'"
I still can't get it clear whether Murphy (and yes indeed he did) is imploring the Bulls to do their best to keep Macca, or for Macca to do the right thing and stay with the Bulls? Or both! Nor can I make much more sense out of what the parties are reported as saying in the media.
It DOES sort of look to me like, as was said above, there is plenty more to all this than we know about. And the thought has certainly occurred to me that some in high places might savour the prospect of prising the Bulls' coach away from his club at just the time all he has been working on might just be coming together. Whatever the truth of it all is, my suspicion is that the RFL is not popular up at Odsal right now, But, like pretty well everyone else, I am guessing. And I'm not about to put anyone at the club in a difficult position by asking them.

Aye, and Eddie is hinting at it too. And, as we all know:

Maybe a slight misunderstanding here. As you rightly say I will possibly get exactly what I have wanted for so long pretty soon and I am happy about that.
In regards to "leaving us in the lurch" I was more referring to the board that have backed him over his tenure. If he just walks out on them it would be a right kick in the teeth to them I suggest.
As for me??? I will be too busy cracking open the Champagne to care.

Now that's where you and I likely differ as types then. Cos in such a situation, I'd be thinking it would be prudent to keep that champagne on ice - at least until I saw who the successor was. Sometimes its amazing how quickly elation can turn to despair - in my five decades and some, I've seen too many examples of that. And that's why I've learned - sometimes the hard way - the need to be careful what you wish for.

Now now, no need to get stroppy just because your hero is about to do one.

| He's going then.
In the short term, i'm really pi$$ed off that our board has shown us to be spineless again. Given in and let him do both roles, which is what Hood said was exactly what he didn't want. If he was definitely going I'd have kept him doing the Bradford job till november and make sure he was fully comitted to that.
In the long term I could be very happy (if we get Taylor, Elliot, Folkes etc) or very sad (Lowes, McDermott, Cullen, Millward or McRae).
What I would like to know though, and I hope to god we have a fans forum before november, is what SM meant by "Bradford is my be all and end all"? Even if your future wasn't certain, surely if something is your be all and end all you would risk waiting for the opportunity to stay comitted to something that is your be all and end all.
