I don't think so. Hood has already said a top 4 finish and a final appearance is what he is expecting this season. If those aren't delivered, then it's been another failure of a year.

| I agree with what you are saying FA. I'd imagine most of us including yourself knew our backline was a weakness going into this season.
Not sure how much difference it would make but i'd like to see Reardon and Halley swapped. Or i can see Kearney as a Hodgson type fullback for us though at moment he is doing fine at 6.

No he did not, though. He said that that would be what he "would regard as success", in response to the specific question asked. I wrote down his words at the time and I have just double-checked what he said. He never said that was what he was "expecting".

A success is a success. Anything other than a success by those targets is a failure. Failure means targets set by the board have not been hit.
Only a success, could get him a new contract IMO.

Thank fsck we have a very decent set of forwards, and some true potential at halfback.'"
Who unfortunately have struggled to make yards to allow the halfbacks and backs to play in the last two games. They have worked tirelessly in defence but we've really struggled to punch through the big packs of Wire and Hull.
If the pack were dominating our backs would look a whole lot better than they currently do.

| Worryingly, looking at the head to head stats with quins, there's not a great deal of difference between us and them.
If anyone turns up Friday thinking it'll be an easy 2 pts may go home disapointed

But I will just say, as I was at the fans forum too, Peter Hood said top 4 and a final were how the club would measure success. But if you don't succeed then you have failed.

The question nobody asked was where he expects the current squad to finish.
Top 4 and a final would be a successful season. I expect we'll finish 6th at best. Anything less than 8th would be a failure IMO.

| Top 4 & a final would be a success in anyone's book, even Leeds would probably take that now. If Bradford get that it would be a miracle not success.

Indeed. And in fact what I wrote down was:
Question - What cup run and final placing would we consider success?
PH Answer - To reach at least one final each season and to be in the top 4 would be considered success. But also have to consider what players are available - for example, if we had ten injuries then that would be a different scenario. But otherwise, anything less than that just means we have not achieved - i.e we have failed.
Not claiming this as being an exact transcript, but it should be close. And yes, it seems that even though you will see PH did not say he actually expected that achievement this year, he nevertheless appears to hold the same view as Paul and Roofaldo - that not to achieve it is failure. And, I guess by extension, the coach (and the club) would have failed?

I'd be happy to be proved wrong as long as we get a quality replacement) but I think that will be at the back of the boards mins, play-off place and a semi-final (thats a huge improvement on last season aswell)

Tonked u joker? We lost to a v.good team 18-6 who simply had better players than us and half there team were not suffering with a flu virus and the fact we had to re-shuffle without OX - It was never guna happen

But:
Game 1 - no Langley. We're not so blessed that we can cover the absence of the league's current best forward
Game 2 - half the squad or more under the weather with a virus. That's taking nothing away from Hull's effort, but if you are struggling with a virus, a SL field such as away at the KC for 80 minutes is not the place of choice to be.
Not excuses, just factors, mind.

| I must admit to having seen no evidence or report of half the squad having a virus.

This was a team that finished 12th last season and apparently we have recruited well this season so I dunno how this argument holds up TBF. We also got the late late try that makes it look slightly better.
However, each to their own views I guess.
