I went to the one in Bingley many times & always enjoyed it. Sounds like the Shipley one is....Shimla.

Anyhow sorry if its already been mentioned but went to the new Nawaab bottom of tong street, the one that used to be lapwater hall...all i will say is that it was expensive, tried floggin us 2 x little bottles of water at £2 quid each rather than the jug of water i asked for and the food was nothing to write about hence i havnt given a good description...still £40 for 3 starters and 2 main meals....nothing special and no alcohol !!
My advice is dont bother...On the plus side...did the sweet centre on lumb lane last week and cannot fault it...half the price of Nawaab and food was superb.

I've been to the Shimla in Shipley. Found it a bit mild to be honest. It was one of those that people on here in the past referred to as "aimed at whitey", much as I disagree with that whole thing.

Ordered a fairly hot curry and it was still mild. Tasted alright, but it was all a bit too fancy looking instead of just being good food.

What happened to AP and his 'Asian people don't use cutlery' attempts at inclusiveness?

It had two chillis on the menu, not even 3.

I was actually warned beforehand that I should order hotter than I wanted as they tended to run a bit mild, and I still found it not enough.


The one thing I did enjoy about the Shimla was they had some other Naan. It's been a while since I went now, but I think it was a Chilli Naan or something? And it was excellent. Truly excellent.

If having a curry outside the "curry heartlands" just ask for your meal to be "desi style" that should sort out the mildness problem.

Anyone been back to the Shama in Bingley since it re-opened?

Off to the new Aagrah tonight (by Thornbury Roundabout). Not that impressed by the old one tbh but willing to give it a shot.
