Agreed, I'd much rather give a coach a chance i.e. Greenwood then hire a bog standard coach who has done the rounds without ever doing anything remarkable.

| Quote: ruraljuror "I did acknowledge this point in my original post - I accept that the governing body are somewhat lacking in professionalism, but I still think it's one hell of a leap to suggest that the behaviour of Jon Sharp led directly to someone committing suicide. There may have been stuff happening behind closed doors, but the press release at the time of his departure was nothing but positive. In my experience, if someone leaves a business 'under a cloud' the parting messages are somewhat neutral - certainly not the case when JS left the RFL.
If I remember correctly, allegations were made against JS by a particular ex-referee who himself was suspended three times during his career - the final time for behaviour towards female employees. He chose to retire instead.'"
Firstly, I was not the poster making that leap and I wasn't doing so in my posts, however I was calling into question his general character.
Second up, I've just re read the RFL press release from when he left, and my interpretation is that whilst there is nothing negative in it, there is still a lot of neutrality in it. No reason given for departure for one. We'll have to agree to disagree. My worry is that Fev was the second job in a row for him where his departure is suddenly announced unexpectedly and no reasons are given and Bradford will be his hatrick.
Thirdly, it's entirely possible both Silverwood and Sharp are unsavory characters, it's not either/or. Of course they both might be perfectly nice chaps.

| Well that sort of sounds to me like it isn't going to be Sharp but who knows. Seems like rather glacial progress.
I'm glad John Bastian is on that interview panel. Not really sure why Stuart Duffy and Russ McFarlane are on it but the owner isn't. The owner is the person responsible for hiring and firing and the coach is one of the most important jobs at the club. Interviewing them certainly isn't something I'd delegate if I were in charge, especially to a panel where only one person knows anything about coaching.
Surely you'd want to see the potential head coach yourself?

| Just seen this on Twitter via @PitchsidePete The BCB lad.
BULLS LOOK TO APPOINT NEW COACH. After speaking to the club this morning I can confirm the following that the club have not appointed Jon Sharp and have begun the process of seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified coach’s. All interested parties have until November 24th 2017 to apply. All cv’s etc should be sent directly to the club fao Mr S Duffy. The club hope to have the new coach in place no later than December 10th 2017. Leigh Beattie will act has interim head coach for the time being.

Ex-Huddersfield Giants head coach Jon Sharp, who parted with Featherstone Rovers in July, has been mentioned as the likely candidate to take over at the fallen giants although sources at the club last night distanced themselves from such reports.
Read more at:
I was asked by Andrew Chalmers to put that tweet out ahead of the press release this morning. Jon Sharp hasn't been appointed, so I have no idea where the T&A got the story from.

The early weeks of pre-season are mainly fitness based with a few ball handling sessions.

| I'm rooting for Greenwood, and a completely fresh start from the last few years of turmoil, and to avoid harking back to a past era.
Neither Sharp or Anderson are good choices to take us forward.

| I'd like to see Greenwood given his chance. I think a young coach wanting to progress in the game would be a better choice than some older coach who has coached at a higher level

Well Matthew Shaw was adamantly saying that the deal was done on Twitter, backing up his earlier story on Total RL
I'd say 'lazy journalism' by the T&A. But given they don't employ an actually Bulls correspondent anymore this is going to happen...

That's exactly where the T&A got it from. It was Shaw that first "reported" it. The T&A just recycle everyone else's stories and if there isn't anything to recycle, try and make something out of a player's recent tweets (see Joe Keyes injury story from last weekend). They're far from a reliable source.

| Matthew Shaw actually tweeted to say that he'd had it [iconfirmed[/i that Sharp had the job. So somebody somewhere is telling porkies.

Can’t workout if you’re trying to judge reaction before employing him or... so you can say “told you so” once you employed him??

Can we really afford to “give someone a chance” for the season ahead?? Given the strong likelihood of structure change in the next couple of years, I don’t think we can afford not to gain promotion back into championship at first time of asking.
For me it has to be a proven coach this time round and someone that’s not going to stand for continuous lacklustre performances(I accept there will be the odd couple as with any team)
