| Well I've survived the crucial third bog visit of the morning, which all beer followed by curry aficionados know is the killer. Had a few very pleaseant pints of White Lion in the FC last night, partly in the company of the delectable Mrs Aardvark & her oik of a husband (thanks for the beer BTW), then on to the Punjab. As FA commented in our chat youcan usually tell a good curry house when the clientele is mainly Asian, which is usually the case here.
I had chana chat to start, whcih is a cold chick pea, potato, cucumber in a spiced yoghurt. Very nice but spoilt by being too cold, probably straight from the fridge. Nearly everyone else had masala fish, which they all oved, but made my clothes stink. I continued with the chick peas, this time in a masala. SPot on, with a strong garam masala presence. The rotis were superb. 8/10.

| The special mixed starter at the Punjab is fantastic, especially the lamb chops. Bit pricey but sometimes have this instead of a main. I'm still too scared to go back to Chapple kebabs though, they are quite tingly the day after.

They really don't, not if you have been brought up on Bradford curries!
If compelled to try then Saagan's in the curry mile or Pink Garlic are not that bad.
In Manchester city centre, Chinese is the way forward, left to the Yang Sing or right to the Pacific. Mmmmmmmm.

| Went to Tulsi Indian vegetarian restaurant on Cenetenary Square last night. I was sceptical before I went, not by the veggie bit but by the big glitzy set up. I was extremely impressed, we had the buffet which was just over £11. There are 4 courses; some usual & unusual indian starters, a rice & dhal 'soup' course, 5 or 6 veggie curries mainly based around pulses but also paneer & potatoes, & a sweet which was a lovely paneer in a cardamon infused milk. You could go back as many times as you want. I will defo return with the family.

| Good review of the Karachi in last weekend's Guardian magazine. 9 out of 10. Me thinks the reviewer is trying to get down with the homies a bit with that score. It's always been reasonable food, good service & good value, but I wouldn't go that high personally.

Saw that, it was a good write up. Nice to have some positive stuff in the press about Bradford.

Off topic but MMA is the biggest load of biz on this planet. It's a boring sport to watch unless you are into the ground work and as a martial art it's completely useless. Put it this way if you were stood on an uneven pavement outside a pub that's covered in glass and a bloke is trying to take your wallet off you the last thing you want to do is take him down and roll around the floor trying to get him in a key lock.
Back on topic. I found a place in Birkby, Huddersfield called Kobeda hut that do these enormous kebabs. They do one that's got Chicken Tikka, Lamb Tikka and a Kobeda that cost seven quid but is well worth it. You can easily get one and a portion of chips making it 8 quid and share it between two people. Is there anywhere in Bradford/Cleckheaton like it for when the season starts again?

I thought it was pretty average when I went with work about a month ago. We only went cos the PSC was closed at lunch.

Makes a change for the Guardian reviewer to be going outside of London. He even manages to mention the food in this review, something he rarely bothers with as he rambles on about all sorts of crap usually.
He raves about the Jalfrezi in the Karachi. Must say I always find it "ok" if not great in there. It is cheap as chips tho.
Anyone been in the Rawal lately? That used to be great years ago.
